Not sure who's still following, but how is everyone?! I would like to think that all of us are here with our significant others now!! (Especially you mena!!) Hope you & your significant others are adjusting well!!

Santy & I had 2 wonderful weddings (apart from the courthouse one hahaha) and just got our green card NOA2! No interview, which is kind of weird, but I'm not complaining. :) The card is in the mail now! And Santy is going for a permit test on Monday, and my boss is helping him get a job! So things are pretty good with us, apart from it still being an adjustment to not be long distance hahah!

Hope you guys are all doing well!! Keep us posted!!!

Hey there! :) Beautiful photos, looks like you had a fabulous time. We had a wonderful wedding that went mostly exactly as we had planned it. Filed for AOS and now it's the waiting game. I suppose biometrics will come next. When the EAD arrives we'll head to the DMV. He's adjusted well, but we do miss his family very much, so we've been keeping busy. We're working on getting everyone albums for Christmas gifts. It all still feels surreal in a way. Is it the same for you?

Thank you guys!!

Gill&Grant, I think typically it's about an average of 70 days from filing that you get your EAD/AP! It took us about that long to get the card in the mail. Of course no more than 3 months, and the green card's about 4-6 months to get, too, I think! The letter said it could take up to 3 weeks, We're not really too concerned about waiting for it, though! The EAD card is pretty good for a photo ID for now. For the 6 point IDs in Jersey (not sure if it's the same for other states), it counts as 3 points with social security card (thank you guys for telling me to get that!!) then marriage certificate counts as 3 points, too, and our AOS NOA1's for proof of address, so that's all he needs for IDs!

Yuna, I assume that's you guys in your profile picture?! I love it!! But I feel you on that. :( We miss Ecuador a lot. We went for the Ecuadorian wedding in October, and it was hard to leave. I think it's still hard for Santy being here. I know he misses home. This is officially the longest he's ever been here at one time- over 4 months. It's definitely weird not having anymore countdowns to see each other or think about how we'll have to say goodbye at some point, but it's a pretty great feeling, too. We're just stuck in this weird waiting period now of wanting to get out of here.. badly! We don't want to stay in Jersey (or possibly even the US), and both of us have dreams of traveling. Our plan was to stay here (with my parents, UGH) for a few years to pay off my debt, but we're really itching to leave sooner than that. We went to Puerto Rico on our honeymoon and, as silly as it may sound, are actually considering moving over there, for several reasons, but we're excited at the idea of it being in the somewhat foreseeable future (we hope). I don't know how much long I can take being here! (I do love Jersey, but we need a change of pace & not live with my parents, and it's just way too expensive here for us just starting out.)

How are you guys/your spouses spending time while waiting for the EAD?? Santy spent a lot of it getting our wedding stuff ready to sell - LOL! He's also allowed to come to work with me sometimes (I'm a nanny), and I love watching him with the baby! He's almost 2 and doesn't quite talk much yet, but he gets excited when he sees Santy and yells "SAN-EE"! Hahaha! But Santy definitely has found plenty of ways to kill time before starting work!

Yes that's us, our photographer was a joy to work with, and that's one of our favorites. :) We're staying with my parents for now, until we can begin saving for our own place. We've been passing the time by going on small trips, hiking, and making the upstairs of the house more like our area instead of my area. He has his gaming rig here, so we do that a lot. He's handy around the house and has fixed a lot of stuff. I think it's mostly just about finally enjoying being a couple without having to worry about saying goodbye that has given us a lot of peace and passes the time. This will be his second American Thanksgiving.. and he's trying to convince me to make Yorkshire Pudding for it :P

Hello all - it is so fun to read how you are all doing :-)

I made it here just over a week ago - last weekend Saturday - after being able to pick up my visa October 21. Then I had to finish out my work contract and get rid of two more wisdom teeth and recover before being able to fly!

So I entered November 14 and we got married yesterday, November 21. It is so good to be back! As soon as I arrived it felt like I had never been gone.

We had a super small wedding with only closest family - parents, parent stand-ins, my hostparents, their kids, their new aupair and the grandfather.

My family wasnt able to come, but we knew that all along, and we are planning on doing an Austria wedding sometime next summer, so they will be a part of that.

On Monday we will be able to pick up our marriage certificate and then it is on to the AOS process, changing my name on everything - bank account, SSN... and hopefully I will be able to get my driver's licence. I have heard so many horror stories, but according to the Mass RMV K1 is eligible, I am curious to see what my experience will be like. But we will wait for after Thanksgiving... I am def printing that page where it says so and bring that along!

Other than that, I havent really had time to get bored or restless and since I have live here before we have both our mutual friends and each our own, so that is kind of nice.

Looking forward to joining the AOS thread sometime soon!

Allie! Your pictures are gorgeous! Such a beautiful bride. I love the wedding pictures. We are still waiting on ours. They said around Thanksgiving... Yay!

Yuna, you look so lovely as well!

It is so amazing to see all of the wedding pictures, and happy stories now that the wait is behind us. I feel like I'm part of the trend. We are also staying with parents while saving. This process was crazy expensive, then throw on a wedding and stuff... Ugh. Does anyone else seriously miss the countdowns and wedding planning? For a year, almost to the day, I had a countdown, then a wedding to plan. Now?... It's a little depressing. Lol.

Great wedding pictures, girls!

We got married on Halloween. No ceremony or anything. It was just us, my parents, and his Mom. We used a self-uniting license. Pennsylvania has these licenses because of the Quakers. You don't need an officiant. You just sign the license, have two witnesses sign it, drop it off at the courthouse, and you're done!

We're planning on having a Halloween/1st Anniversary/Reception party next year.

Thank you guys!!! Santy just got his green card the day before Thanksgiving, woohoo!! Just so happy that it's over for a while, hahah!

MissPearls, OMG! Love those pictures! Super cute! I miss planning & countdowns, too, for sure.. BUT there's always looking forward to doing things for the first year of a married couple like decorating Christmas trees, decorating a home if you have one (or for us our room, LOL!), making photo books with the pretty wedding pictures, holiday presents.... Luckily this is a fun time of year with all the holidays!

Congratulations to everyone!! Hope you guys had a fun Thanksgiving! Santy loved his first one. :)

Hey ..

So I have been checking the mail everyday for my AP and EAD!

I really really want to be home for the holidays we have been in Ireland for Christmas every year since 2012 ..also not working since August has wrecked havoc on my savings so I am so excited to get working and meet people....also we had a civil ceremony here but our big church wedding isnt til June in Ireland and we both gotta amp the savings before then!

We filed for AP/EAD/AOS on October 16th and I had my Bio metrics on November 3rd - I went snooping comparatively on other peoples time lines most people got approved 2-3 weeks after their bio metrics. Mine was a month ago, should I be concerned???

So any one else getting cabin fever...have K1-ers started working or are people waiting til after the holidays - I would love to hear.

Nope! Remember from the whole K1 stuff that you can't rely too much on VJ timelines for a totally accurate estimate, so don't let others' timelines worry you too much. They give you the estimate of 90 days, but it usually takes a little less. It's not necessarily about the biometrics, though.. That has more to do with the GC application. We got our EAD/AP approval early because of emergency, but it took us about 2 months to get the actual NOA2 in the mail, which is what it says on here is average. Typically people receive NOA2s for AP/EAD about 60-80 days after filing. You aren't there yet! Give it 3 months, and then if you still haven't gotten it, you can contact your local office and make an info pass appt, but passing 90 days isn't very common (at least that I've seen from user data on here!).

Santy is working odd jobs now and is going to start somewhere full time in January. He really wanted to do carpentry/construction, but he needs a license first, and that won't happen til March :( BUT he just got his permit and is driving!!! :D

Timeline

Thank you Ally, great advice once again.... I am only on the 60 day mark now!! so I guess I need to just be patient....thats great he has his license and work set up already!!! He as found his feet quickly... I am going through the License hoops to I have an LCSW exam to sit in January... Great to hear he is so settled..
