They aren't examining your parts. They're confirming what's there. They aren't looking for warts or herpes or little monsters lurking down there. They're just checking to see if you are what you say you are.

I understand the logic behind it up to a couple of years ago, when people couldn't immigrate based on same-sex marriage, then I guess the State department wanted to make sure that the immigrant really was of the "right" gender. But same-sex marriage is accepted for immigration purposes now so there really isn't any need to determine whether someone is a man or a woman anymore... Maybe a case of procedure haven't followed with the changes?!?!

I don't think it is even as deep as whether it has anything to do with someone being in the LGBT community. It is about me saying I'm a female immigrant. They're just making sure we are what we say we are on paper. I'm sure that this part will have to be re-examined down the road as more acceptance comes in regarding transgender folks.

But for the purpose of the OP, we're just making sure we are built as listed on our paperwork.

At some point we need to remember that these are trained physicians... they probably see thousands of vajayjays a year and there is nothing sexual about it. But most importantly, religious belief or not, if USCIS sees them fit to do an accurate exam then you kind of need to go with the flow. I'm sure they will have a nurse present to ensure everything is ok. In my opinion male gynos are nicer than female ones... but that's just personal opinion.

In my exam, I was seen by a female doctor and she had me pull everything down and open my legs while she looked quite intently (lol). She also listened to my chest with my gown lowered so my... uh, "girls" were out in full view. It was quite uncomfortable because I've never had a naked medical exam before. To be honest, the entire idea of it creeps and freaks me out. But it was... okay.

I'd still rather receive 100 vaccinations and have 40 vials of blood drawn from me in one sitting though. And a few teeth pulled here and there. I hate being exposed like that, but I just went with it because I really wanted to move in with my husband. Sometimes you have to do stuff like that in life.

Just as a note, if you're sexually active, you should have a pap smear at least once a year until you've been clean for 3 years, then once every 3. I still prefer once a year but there is a family history of cancer for me. Better safe than sorry in my opinion. My mom did regular, yearly exams and still her cancer spread so fast that she had to have a hysterectomy despite a clean pap the year before.

I also agree that male gynos tend to be more gentle than female ones. You'd think we'd be easier on our own gender knowing what it feels like.

It's a quick are you a boy or girl check, that's it. There is no touching or probing. It's a simple, yes you have a ####### and testicles or no you don't.

BTW I think that word is a scientific word for the male genitalia and should NOT be banned.

That's weird, I don't know why they needed to do all that. It's supposed to be a visa medical exam, not a gyno exam.

Guess it's different from country to country. In Scandinavia, a normal physical exam doesn't include the private parts. That exam you would have with a gynaecologist. Guess I have to call the US embassy doctor in Sweden and see how it's done here.

I'm pretty sure the Swedish medical won't include this. Then it would be mentioned by the clinic in their info prior to going there and also I have a vague memory of reading it somewhere that it doesn't happen. Though I could be wrong. Guess I'll find out on Monday....

My medical in Frankfurt was very straightforward, no genital exam, not even any questions regarding that department.

All they did was check my breathing, blood pressure and did a chest x-ray and pee test. They asked me whether I had tattoos or piercings and told me to get shots for MMR and flu.

That's it.

No idea! I only have pierced ears and one other body piercing but no tattoos so I wasn't too concerned. The doctor did write it on my notes.

Maybe it's something to do with if they have been done recently and there is a risk of complication or infection.

Someone else might know the answer!
