I know in the past the family of the victims used to watch the convict put to death. I don't see this practice as barbaric per-say. It may have served as some sort of closure or justice. Granted I don't see the point of going beyond the people affected and neither does history. And granted I don't agree with the death penalty to begin with. But that's how it goes over in the muddy left ditch.

If he gets life I don't think he'll ever be eligible for parole. This case really hit the heart of the city and hit it hard. I won't be surprised if he gets death.

Me either. Either he gets the death penalty, or he gets life and won't make it past the first month. Unless they put him in solitary for the rest of his life.

I don't think you'd get closure from watching someone die. Since you've presumably still got to deal with your own issues arising from the crime. M

There's several articles if you google it. Some get closure, some feel worse.

At any rate, AFAIK, Massachusetts law does not allow victims families to witness executions and they don't televise executions.
