This shyte will hit the fan bit time when some store owner invokes this law when refusing to serve black or Asian clients, on religious grounds...

This has actually been tried and failed. I believe it was the photographer in New Mexico which has a similar law already on the books, and it didn't help all the way to SCOTUS. I think there are a couple of other examples as well, but they slip my mind.

I will throw this out there. If I'm a caterer and a couple comes to me for a wedding and wants their food sourced Halal and I turn them down because I don't support Halal am I discriminating against them?

If you don't serve halal and that's true across the board, then no. If you do serve halal but refuse to serve it to only a segment of the customer base, then yes.
