Indiana pizzeria closes after threats

A local tv station decided to just start walking into pizza places and asking them, preposterously, if they would sell pizza (?) to a gay wedding ...

They had nothing to do with the go fund me account.

A local tv station asked local business owners if they would sell their goods to a gay wedding. Fun fact: Gay weddings come in all shapes and sizes. Let me tell you about mine. I was all set to get married in a park in Boston. Unfortunately, it was bone-chillingly cold and my southern blossom of a wife couldn't tolerate the cold. We went to a nearby locale for warm drinks and snacks. It happened to be a chocolate shop, but if there'd been a decent pizza place nearby, it could have been that, also. We sat at a table in the chocolate shop and said our vows and signed the marriage license and boom. We were married. When we were done, people at the next table asked us if we'd just got married and we said yes. We could easily have been kicked out mid-vows for being gay if we'd happened to stumble out of the blustery cold into Memories Pizza, had we been in Indiana. People don't always get married in a traditional manner. Heck, my dream wedding that I planned from early childhood and didn't get was a slumber party wedding where the couple getting married would wear fancy silk pjs and everyone would hang out all night and eat pizza and drink pop (or beer as I got older) because it meant no one would have to get a ride home at the end.

And historical trends have shown that SOMEONE was going to set up a gofundme for Memories Pizza. When someone is intolerant like this, fellow intolerant folks like to give them money to show support.

It is America however, and people are allowed to agree and disagree. If any level of intolerance threatens another, there are laws that enable them to be prosecuted in criminal or civil court. For those who don't like a church, or their neighbors, they are provided the freedom to go next door. Discrimination against anyone is not allowed in America. It's just not. However, it also should not be allowed to force people of faith to participate in gay parties and activities to which they may object.

But this law literally legalizes discrimination against anyone who isn't part of a protected class... Should people of religion be allowed to refuse service to unaccompanied women or women who have their heads uncovered? I'm a staunch atheist and evolutionist. Should I be able to refuse to serve people who follow creationism?

Simple response that a pizza place obviously doesn't cater weddings would have sufficed. Of course, that simple answer would not have raised a half a million dollars from American bigots.

Yup. Exactly.

now that's a church i can live with. we need more of those.

I love it. They feed the homeless and hold a big dinner for the homeless once a month as part of a memorial service for homeless people who have died during that month.

So, get up and go there this weekend, and then report back about how you accepted Jesus Christ as your lord and savior.

Um. Why would going to a church mean automatically that you become Christian?

Not tolerating bigotry does not make one intolerant!

Actually it does. Not tolerating anything is the very definition of intolerant. I think a lot of people mistake tolerance for acceptance.

Following O’Connor’s appearance on Blaze TV, Lawrence Jones — a contributor to Blaze TV — started a GoFundMe campaign.

“So we set up a GoFundMe page with the modest goalicon1.png of $25,000. The intent was to help the family stave off the burdensome cost of having the media parked out front, activists tearing them down, and no customers coming in,” Jones wrote. “Our goal was simply to help take one thing off this family’s plate as the strangers sought to destroy them. But other strangers came to the rescue and the total just keeps going up. Thank you for helping us do some good for this family who were scared and in hiding just 24 hours before this writing.”

More than $500,000 has been raised as of Friday morning.

No, not like independent, or Baptist. Like Fundamentalist non-denominational.

yes, that's called independant. not necessarily by the churches themselves but by outsiders because there is no denomination to call them. i have family that came up in an independant church and the pastor made all the rules. like how long there skirts were allowed to be and no music but music that exhalts god.

the fundamentalist churches i've been to have been entrenched in baptist ideology but each unique in that their pastors added their own special flair. like speaking in tongues (mandatory practice), which i think is pentecostal. but then all the hellfire and suffering of the southern baptist strain. good horror movie type stuff.
