SSA letter received in mail today,it says that I will receive my new card for name change after 2 Weeks..I went there 10 days after I received my EAD card..What a relief..now I can take my DMV written test when my new card arrive under my married name..?

Oh yeah, I'm thinking about it now, you're right the GC is "DHS verification" I'm just not sure about going to SSA office or not since I was told before by the lady who assisted me at the SSA office that if there's any updates on my immigration status, I should tell them too. I guess that's because they are two separate gov't entities. That's the reason why I updated my SSA card Anyway, when I went at the SSA office, they did also gave me a new form in order for me to get a new card and they got my SS card with marked; "with DHS verification" and said that they'll deliver a new one (without it) within 2-4 weeks. I guess to go to SSA office or not is our choice, isn't it?

Yeah, it's a bit confusing. I guess at the end of the day, it's better to be safe and just update the SS office?

I am not sure what I will do yet. Oh man, I can't wait to receive the welcome letter!

Ok, I arrived in March 2013. I was way out of status when I applied in April of 2015.It states on their website that you must present the I94 even if expired, along with your noas. Im in south Florida, I guess it might be different bin other states. I will be forwarding you the link

Yes,maybe some rules in other state may vary, I'm not quite sure about it, but California is different..they are so strict..I'm not familiar with anything here since I am only here in U.S. . for only about 6 months now,whatever they say I am just following them, and sharing my experience as what I had been through,some members might find it similar if they are here in California too..By the way,are you adjusting from K1 visa status too?

Thank you so much! Wow, it's such a good feeling. Though I am still desperately waiting for some "official" notice of approval- and since the case status hasn't been updating for most people lately, I guess that means the welcome letter.

About the SSN- I mentioned it offhand to the IO at the interview, and he told me not to worry about updating that till I become a citizen now! And since it is in my married name, I guess I won't do it. Because it says valid "with DHS verification" and my greencard is just that! ...Right?

I will share it here for sure..As I am adjusting my K1 w/ a K2 derivative..btw you said they asked no document from you? That's great! Maybe when you submitted your AOS ,you have supplied them all that is needed..I hope they won't be asking from me more too..as me and my petitioner has a son now..and been living together for 14 years..before we got married..yay! Staying positive..???

It's 6 days after my interview that I received the welcome notice then after 2 days (when I received the welcome notice) for the actual GC (8 days after interview). You may check the USCIS tracker from time to time 'coz they will give you the USPS tracking #. Yes, I think it's better to be safe about the SSA office. You can go there 10 days after your interview and when you received the actual GC so that they can validate your legal name on it. It's the one too that they'll follow. Regards

it's been a while since I posted here... But we moved 3 weeks ago, got our religious wedding 2 weeks ago and my family from France left 2 days ago... so 3 pretty busy weeks.

Here are some news: so more than 80 days after my NOA1, i received 2 RFEs. one for the EAD and the other for the AP. It was to ask 2 certified copy of my wedding licence (we submitted it for the AOS but not this 2 others...my bad).

My question is, do I have to write a letter to explain what I am sending or do I just have to include the yellow letter they sent as requested?

My online status is still on the "we received a fee for fingerprinting...." , but today in The mailbox my waiver letter awaited YAY?. Yes, I'm happy to be with my husband but I would prefer traveling home with a gc than with an advance parole. Anyway on Monday im filling the parole

My wife received her "Notice of Potential Interview Waiver" on Saturday. Good that we don't need to deal with the interview, bad that it just extends the GC timeline by months.

Hi all, just checking in! just left the SSA and although it was an hour wait it was a very easy experience with a very nice agent who will mail my card in two weeks. The next stop is the DMV! My previous U.S. DL expired more than two year ago so I thought I had to retake all Tests to get a new one but I've been researching and I don't think I have to retake the road test but I do have to retake the signs test and some other online test I think. Can anyone else confirm this?
