Hi guys! Just got back from my AOS interview :D

It went great! The Interviewing Officer was a really nice gentleman and he barely asked us any questions about our marriage.

First we verbally went over the obligatory questions in part 3 of the I-485.

After that he just asked us when and where we met, which led to a long discussion about Minneapolis and how great a city it is.

Basically aside from that he just went over my file which he had on hand and just told us that everything looked good, and that we should look for the official approval on the USCIS case status website later in the day, and expect the green card soon.

So, yay!

In conclusion:

Things we took with us to the interview:

EVERYTHING.

Things he asked to see:

NOTHING. Not one single thing.

Congrats!!! And thanks for sharing..I hope my upcoming Interview will go as well as yours..

Yey!! Congratulations Bandaria :) You made it!!! Wow, I'm also happy for your AOS interview experience, you're very lucky enough on your Officer. Overall, I think they are really nice people even our Officer was so cheerful and approachable, you can ask anything as well. :) Now, don't forget to track your greencard , they will give you a link on the USCIS tracker once they mailed it and it will be less than a week after the Welcome notice :) Also, update your SSN after 10 days as well :) Regards and relax first ;)

Just got a letter from Uscis, it's potential interview waiver , sadly crazy another 6 months +++

Hi Adbaker01,

Don't be sad, I had friends who also did get the interview waiver but most of them too got their interview scheduled. Look at the positive side of it, you'll never be experiencing the stress of a month of interview preparation which we had experienced, it's nerve wracking! I could not even think straight that time. Anyway, once you had your EAD and AP , you can work anytime which is great coz that time I'm waiting for my interview, I still don't have my EAD/AP yet so can't even work at all nor travel. I did thought of doing volunteer jobs at a Humane society nearby though. Regards. :)

maybe you applied for it earlier when you arrived here in the U.S., and 60 days before your 1-94 expires, it's not the same case if you are applying for DL and the 90 days as K1 visa expired..If I only knew that before then I would have been the same as you, cause I have a valid drivers license from my home country too..I've been twice rejected at DMV - 1st my 1-94 did not qualify for the remaining 60 days period...and 2nd attempt was my SSN name didn't match with my EAD..SSN in maiden and EAD in married name..they told me to come back once I have fixed my name change for SSN..

Ok, I arrived in March 2013. I was way out of status when I applied in April of 2015.It states on their website that you must present the I94 even if expired, along with your noas. Im in south Florida, I guess it might be different bin other states. I will be forwarding you the link

Thank you so much! Wow, it's such a good feeling. Though I am still desperately waiting for some "official" notice of approval- and since the case status hasn't been updating for most people lately, I guess that means the welcome letter.

About the SSN- I mentioned it offhand to the IO at the interview, and he told me not to worry about updating that till I become a citizen now! And since it is in my married name, I guess I won't do it. Because it says valid "with DHS verification" and my greencard is just that! ...Right?

Hey everyone! My case seems to be taking an extremely long time with no updates, but I see from looking through the forums that no one is getting updates. After making an appointment to speak to someone at the local USCIS we received a Notice of Potenial Waiver in the mail stating that we still have 6 months from that date till approval.

I was wondering if anyone has received an NOPW this year, and if it really took 6 months to approve?

Also does that include EAD, or does that get approved separately from the AOS?

My husband is going insane, and getting quite depressed not being able to work. So another 6 months would be horrible for us. I've been looking through the NOPW thread here, but in recent months it seems to be more of a group chat. So I didn't find much there to help me get a picture of what we are looking at. Any input from somewhat recent cases is much appreciated.

AOS Timeline

2/26/2015 - Married

3/9/2015 - Package sent to Chicago Office (AOS, EAD, & AP)

3/12/2015 - All three forms received

3/16/2015 - NOA1 notice

3/24/2015 - Notice of Biometrics fee needed. I didn't include it because he had already been fingerprinted at the local office. Oopsie

3/25/2015 - Sent Biometrics fee to Chicago Office.

4/6/2015 - Check received

4/15/2015 - Biometrics Appointment for I-785 (EAD)

4/30/2015 - 2nd Biometrics Appointment. This time for I-485

5/26/2015 - No updates on website since first notice or letters from USCIS. Called USCIS to get an update. Only told still processing, but no issues with our forms.

6/24/2015 - Still no updates from website, or mail. Made an appointment to speak to someone at local USCIS office. Found out file was just received by NBC Office.

6/25/2015 - Received interview waiver in the mail. Still no EAD or AP information.

Oh yeah, I'm thinking about it now, you're right the GC is "DHS verification" ;) I'm just not sure about going to SSA office or not since I was told before by the lady who assisted me at the SSA office that if there's any updates on my immigration status, I should tell them too. I guess that's because they are two separate gov't entities. That's the reason why I updated my SSA card :) Anyway, when I went at the SSA office, they did also gave me a new form in order for me to get a new card and they got my SS card with marked; "with DHS verification" and said that they'll deliver a new one (without it) within 2-4 weeks. I guess to go to SSA office or not is our choice, isn't it?

what was the number you called? Once you got someone you just ask them to get transferred to a tier 2?

1-800 375 5283

Yeah, I told them I was talking to a tier 2 but got disconnected. But you can probably just ask for a tier 2 and it should be fine.
