Thanks for the information.

I was thinking about using this http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/contact/ask-nvc.htmllink to contact NVC, as I read lot of post talking how hard it is to reach NVC through phone. I am not sure how resourceful is above link or even if they look at inquires coming through above link, but I thought to give it a try. Please let us know if anyone has used above resource to contact NVC and has gotten reply.

Thanks!!

Hi There,

Congrats on your approval. Yes, you have to call them in about 1 week and see if they received it.

In my case, I've called once, about a week ago or so and they haven't received it yet. They do say that you should wait about 35 days before calling them, but it is up to you.

Best

Thanks for the information.

Hi there,

I thought the same and sent them an email over 1 week ago, never got a reply. Not sure if the wait time for emails is longer or if they just never reply.

I will try calling again in about 2 weeks to get my case number.

Best,

Hello Filers!

I have a question for all of you…as I am really confused. Did you only file the I-130? Why do I keep reading that one should file a I-129 after receiving the NOA1 for your I-130? Is this a requirement or an option for making the process faster? . I am just curious if any of you file the I-129 also? It seems they both take an estimated 5 months for approval so I don't see the need to file both of them. Both my husband and I live outside the US so we are in no real hurry

Hi there Amena,

Regarding your previous questions: No, I didn't file a I-129 nor do I believe it is a requirement. To be honest, never heard about that so can't really give you a better answer.

After you get your NOA2 from USCIS, you move into the NVC process (also very lenghty).... You need to wait a couple of weeks so USCIS mails your approved package to NVC, after a couple more weeks they will give you a case number so you can continue the process. Only after NVC has completed your case, will you get an interview date.

Best of luck.

My suggestion to you is to look at other members (Colombia) and their timelines and gauge your process by that. My wife and I have been at this for over 1 year an we are still not finished...last step waiting for the NVC to approve all the documents. Make sure you have everything in order and recheck it twice...I missed putting literally a check mark in one box on the financial affidavit and my wife's Colombian passport only had 5 months left on it before expiration so they kept us at that stage for the 60 day period then told us in an email we needed the form checked and resubmitted and for her to get a new passport with more than 6 months left on it. We did that and resubmitted and then you will get an acknowledgement in about 2 weeks with them tacking another 60 days to the timeline. Good luck trying to call someone...I get a pre-recording that all lines are busy due to the high volume of inbound calls after repeatedly hitting autodial for over an hour straight several times during the day when I try.

I am telling you this so you understand the process and how much time this takes. Every country is different on the timeline it takes and I could have avoided some of the delay by insuring all my ducks where in a row. Just thought you should know!!

Good Luck!

Kimo
