I Submitted I-129F today I thought would take 5 months for visa. But I see others who their future wife came from the Philippines in 3 1/2 months. Is 3 1/2 month's the average now?

There are a few factors that allow the time to be shorter than the average... Its just the luck of the draw.

Took us 8 months to the day from filling I-129f to Interview at Consulate.

For what it is worth... I submitted my i-129f petition June 1 and my fiancé just had her interview on nov 25 and passed. I would say we were rather well prepared. I read/studied the guides on the website here and kinda knew what to expect.

So in total it took about 7 months. We are waiting now to have visa and passport in hand before she buys a plane ticket.

Your mileage may vary depending on what USCIS may dig up on your petition... RFE. It seems the people here who have the most trouble seem to have english as a second language and cannot the follow the instructions submitting the forms ( they are not easy). Also some people have some unusual circumstances.

I would say the answer to your question is no, that is not the new average. Check the stats here: http://www.visajourney.com/content/times.

Mine was processed very fast and could have fallen into that 3-month category, but there were other factors that delayed things for us.

Anything can happen during the process, as many will attest to. Sometimes bureaucracy just holds things up inexplicably. The more you read about the process on VJ, the more you see the possibilities for holding things up. I knew this ahead of time and tried to tell myself to expect the process to take possibly a year. Plan for the worst, hope for the best. Right now it looks like we're on course for being under six months, assuming nothing else holds us up.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

you'll probably get the approval in less than 3 months, others have to wait more than 5 months (for us 174 days until now)

Only with the Philippines were timelines much shorter as the petitions for the Philippines were getting expedited processing because of typhoon Yolanda last year. Not sure USCIS is still doing expedites for petitions for the Philippines, if not processing could be back to the 5-6 month average.

Depends on your filing center. I was in California and I was approved in 4 weeks for the NOA2 which is insane, but others have to wait much longer which is unfair. Texas is running longer. I submitted in September and his interview is December 18th but I didn’t have any RFE’s. It depends on your processing center and they are quite different unfortunately.

And yes, clean the house. My fiancé is leaving his family, friends, country, culture for me. The least I can do is have him walk into a clean house! :goofy:

You are at the Texas Service Center and they are processing April 5, 2014. 5 months to get approved at USCIS is more realistic. Than you have to stop off to NVC get case# then off to embassy so 7 to 9 months really is more realistic barring any issues to have Visa in hand.

You will be routed to TSC who are extremely backlogged, that means for most of us we won't see any action on our petitions when we're sent there for 5-6+ months. However you will be the exception to this rule, since your fiancé is from the Philippines, they will be expedited. Even with the backlog at TSC, those petitions get pushed out in front, meaning I think a good rule of thumb should be a few months if that with rare exception. You won't be processed in a few days as CSC can do of course, but it will be speedy compared to the rest of us. Then it'll be onto the rest of the process.

I filed my paperwork on Jan 16, 2014 and I have yet to receive 1 detail about my case! That's almost 11 months I've been waiting. So hope your fiancé isn't from Any country within Africa.... doesn't seem to be high priority on the list of approvals. The back logged comment is an excuse, as you can see they approve who they want to approve.
