hi -

I applied for my visa in july and it was approved at the end of October:

'On October 28, 2014, we approved your Form I-129F, Petition for Fiance(E), Receipt Number WACXXXXX. We will mail your approval notice. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your approval notice by November 27, 2014'

I've yet to receive anything, so I have filled in a form for them to look into it. What are the next steps? At this point does it come from America to England? Do I need to do anything while I await news?

I know once I do get information there is a medical and interview at the British embassy.

Am I missing anything else out? - this inbetween stage is confusing!

You package makes a small stop at NVC to get it's country specific number than gets put in a diplomatic pouch to head off to the embassy. Have you contacted NVC yet ?

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Your visa is not approved yet, your petition was approved, though. Now it is going to go to the National Visa Center and it can take up to 35 days. You should call them and obtain your case number, it is likely already there. They will send you an invoice to pay for the visa application. Then you'll have to do an online visa application, and submit some documents (they will give you instructions). Then they will send your case off to your local embassy, then the embassy will send you some packages that need to be completed and more forms, and assign you an interview date. All the embassies are different how they do it so you'll just need to look into it.

19-Sept-14: I-129F Delivered

23-Sept-14: NOA1 (I-797C ~ Texas Lockbox accepted I-129F)

24-Sept-14: NOA1 (E-mail & Text)

Sent to California Service Center

3-Nov-14: Requested expedite by mailed letter with UN Human Rights Reports (Humanitarian Situation)

14-Nov-14: NOA2 (I-129F Petition Approved ~ E-mail & Text)

1-Dec-14: NVC Received Case

2-Dec-14: NVC Case Number Assigned

9-Dec-14: Embassy Received

3-Feb-15: "Package 3" Received/Turned In

I didn't hear from anyone for a LONG time after my NOA2. Eventually I received a letter from the London Embassy saying that my application was there, the letter from the NVC was received a day later than the embassy one. My advice would be to hang tight. The NVC website says wait 6 weeks before making inquiries, but some people like to call them to get their case number. Personally I didn't want to put my fiances Dad (fiance is in Japan) through a 40 minute hold just to get a case number. Everything turned out well, just took a little patience.

Edit: It took 26 days for the NOA2, but 1 month and 5 days to hear about the next step.
