Pregnancy does not affect or expedite K-1 process in any way.

The only affect of having a child together may be as one extra proof of non-fraud mariage for GC later, but it's not necessary. Pretty much as far as I know having or not having kids doesn't make a serious difference for any part of immigration process with USCIS.

I agree. Take advantage of the Canada Health Care System. I was hoping for this :) but not blessed with it.

You can give birth here in Canada, and then move to the USA, have maternity leave with pay for 1 year. I think this is the best option :)

Goodluck!!!

I will watch your case, as my fiance is an American citizen and I am Canadian citizen too :)

If pregnancy made the process faster then 90% of the women on VJ would probably be pregnant

Good luck with your petition and whatever you decide :)

Oh wow charmed2006, I didn't even think of maternity leave!! OMG for sure she should stay in Canada! It might delay being together for a few months, but you will gain so much from it. You both should check out this thread about Employment Insurance, it's really helpful. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/8-the-canuck-ei-thread/

Kinda wishing I got knocked up :P jk! Good luck!

Being pregnant doesn't make a difference, you will be treated like everyone else.

No matter where the baby is born, s/he will be automatically a U.S. citizen because you're the father.

Here is a useful link about "Birth of U.S. citizens abroad" that you might wanna check out:

http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/english/abroad/events-and-records/birth.html

the baby is not automatically a US citizen if it is born abroad.

You might need a second job! If the costs of filing a K-1, has been a problem, then what are you going to do with a new baby, Medical, interview, AOS is 1070.00 now.,.,.and with this Administration (obama) look for the costs to go up.,.,just an opinion.

The costs are very "eye opening".,.,., as for a K-1 visa time line, my wife was 10 months and 4 days, but she got "stuck in the Filipino Fiasco, called 'Sputum') cost us nearly 3 months.

If CSC, you could be to NOA2 in 2-3 months, if TSC, then 5-7 months.,.,.,.,good luck on your journey.,.,you need to plan, plan, and more planning!

Prepare for your new family!

I know. The parents will have to apply for a CRBA (Consular Report of Birth Abroad) first. What I meant by "automatically" is that the child will not need a visa. Did you read my post? I even included a link about CRBA.

when you say DNA Test, you are referring to babies that are already born. Is that correct?

Ignore DNA test. If the consulate has reason to believe the baby is not yours they will order the DNA test after the CRBA interview. They won't accept a test you had done on your own before hand. Besides DNA tests are not the norm, if you have the certificate of live birth and and birth certificate with your name on it you should be approved easy.

This depends on the country, and the consulate/embassy. Every consulate/embassy is like a whole different world. I try to not assume that just because it's not questioned in my embassy that it won't be in others. :)

I've seen a case with a couple where the USC was on the birth certificate and he was still required to take a DNA test as it was "routine policy":
