After 57 days of waiting for a case complete, we got a checklist instead, and we too were devastated. I called the NVC and after speaking with a CSR our case was forwarded for supervisor review. The 1st CSR told me they did not know how long it would take. I called back the next day & was told by another CSR it could take up to 30 days for a supervisor review. After 9 days I got a voicemail from NVC, when I called them back it was not good news. After speaking with another CSR & another supervisor, my case ended up being forwarded again for another supervisors review. This time I got a call back in 2 days with a case complete. After waiting 57 days & getting a checklist, then being told it could take another 30 days for a supervisors review, we also felt we could not do this anymore. This process is draining but you can do this. You just hold on, your day will come.

My grandfather IR5 catagory document is cleared expect birth certificate issue. I sent no record of birth certificates and 2 close relative affadtive and got checklist so i called them and ask and they said they missing birth certificate i explain everything that i sent no record and then i said let me talk to supervisor and supervisor put that for review and today is my 26 days of that supervisor review still they saying same thing again and again that it will take 30 business days some says 42 days. I want them to review fast so i can come up with something. If they wont accept that then i am screwed i have to take out new one and it will take 40 days and then i will sent to nvc and they will take 60 days

What to do? please help

Does my AOS will expire? If it passes the next year? They will ask for new one for recent 2014 year? should i just sent new no record without reviewing the othet one?

I have been wondering the same thing about the AoS. Does it have a time limit? Our AoS was submitted July 24 and approved Sept 15, however, still waiting to get through the IV part and interview... so by the time I get to interview it will definitely be at least 5-6 months old. Saylin?

Hey there...I'm sorry for this situation. But if I were you I'd call NVC and ask for a supervisor request. If you're 100% sure you send it they'll find your papers and give a case complete. It can take up to three weeks, but it's better than the whole 60 days again, right?

Best of luck to you!

Congratulations!!

Thank you for that. I am on the phone with NVC waiting now. Got in on the first call. I hope they find my documents. They have the case # on all of the 10,000 sheets :protest:

A NERVOUS WRECK I TELL YA

Again, thanks for that information. Three weeks sounds like a piece of cake compared to that scary 60 day knock down.

You should be fine. Unless something changes (higher/lower salary, address change, etc), you don't need to update the AOS. If a new version of the I-864 form comes out though before your interview, then maybe you'd want to fill it out, in case they ask for it at the interview. Besides that though, as far as I know, there's no "time limit".

The waiting game has restarted.

After receiving a checklist for documents that I already submitted, I called and requested for a supervisor to review my documents. The NVC rep told me that they may be able to accept the AOS package without that document and it would be presented at the interview, and/or they MAY need it to complete the case. He said that that was the only document missing....bummer.

I asked if I should resend it and he said NO! NO! He didn't want me to have to wait another 60 days. He said that it can be any day from the request. He also made sure that I submitted the immigrant application??? He scared me for a minute. He cant see that information until the case is complete.

Congrats on the recent CC's!

That's the issue then. If you fill out the assets section, it indicates to them that you're going to qualify, at least partially if you have a joint sponsor, with those assets. So, when you fill out the assets section, you need to send in proof of such, which means financial evidence, such as bank account statements.

Thats what i figured. But, i don't even qualify on my own WITH the assets. Do you think calling them and explaining that would do any good?

When using the assets section, you don't need to qualify 100%. Assets can be used to partially qualify, then partially qualify with income (either your own or a joint sponsor's).

You can try explaining, but they'll likely want either your financial evidence or a new I-864 form with the assets section blank.

Hi saylin.. I hope you don't mind answering my question. It may be very simple for you to answer or maybe not..but this is just so confusing for us especially that we just got approved. I am the petitioner and I can't be the sponsor for my wife but I already have a friend who will be the sponsor for my wife. Basically i don't meet the requirements as I have dependents too. And I haven't filed income tax return for 4 years as I have stopped working and just focused on the business of my parents. But the business is not mine my parents but it's where I am getting money though. So in case we reach to the point that we needed that AOS submission do I still need to fill out I-684? or just my friend? And from the previous post i have read what is the problem or possible problem to occur if my friend the sponsor fill out the Part 7 Use of Assets to Supplement Income? Does he need to provide pay stubs too, photocopy or original that should be submitted to NVC? Thank you

The petitioner ALWAYS has to file an I-864, whether they can qualify or not. So, YOU will need to file an I-864 and your friend will need to file an I-864.

There's no problem per se filling out the assets section. You just need to remember to provide financial documents proving said assets.

Yes, pay stubs are a good idea to provide, to prove income. Photocopies are sufficient.

I highly suggest you read the I-864 form instructions as all of this is covered there.
