I NEVER SAID I HAD TO HAVE A PHYSICAL FOR THE I-751 I SAID I HAD TO HAVE IT FOR THE CR-1 (MARRIAGE) AND AS FOR BAD ADVICE I happen to know what Im talking about I have been through it and this is what I was obliged to do here in the UNITED STATES...As I stated earlier I don't know where you live but each country has their own laws and regulations....I am a Canadian who has married an American and that s how it works here and I am more informed on this compared to you, as we had a real immigration lawyer help us two years ago with the process and this is how we had to go through a civil surgeon not just any where to save a buck..Ever wonder why some people are not accepted that's because they have a hard time following rules and regulations of the countries they want to stay in....

Again - you obviously have no idea how it works here. See post above from merrytooth or maybe just read the thread you're posting in.

Your real immigration lawyer must have given you bad advice then, I did everything myself - including vaccinations at Kroger rather than civil surgeon and had green card within 2.5 months.

Your advice that vaccinations have to be done by civil surgeon is simply incorrect, regardless of how many times you write that you live in US and you think that I don't. Everybody got that.

You are wrong. Your "real super lawyer" is wrong.

He needs to educate himself better on the process before misleading his clients.

The CS signs off on whoever gave the shots wherever. Period. Do your research before you spread misinformation that some CS

offices would like you to believe. Do your own research before believing everything your lawyer tells you.

Why are you mentioning all this : I-130, I-751, CR1. Vaccinations are for AOS.

Here are the rules and regulations that you have all wrong. And of course we are talking about the USA.

It says on the I-693 (Medical Examination of Aliens Seeking Adjustment of Status), "you are not required to have another medical examination as long as your Form I-485 is filed within one year of your overseas medical examination. If you are missing any shots from your overseas medical a I-693 vaccination transcription is required to be completed by seeing a Civil Surgeon to have certain portions of the I-693 completed and have the Civil Surgeon certify the form (sealing the original in an envelope and giving you a copy)."

I had my MMR vaccination from CVS pharmacy and the Civil surgeon transcribed the vaccinations to I-693 without any issue.

Yeah, that's what we are doing. He got his flu shot yesterday at Walgreens and we will see about this chicken pox shot or titer then go to the Civil Surgeon to have them transcribed onto the paperwork.

No one ever answered if he can get a titer and show the civil surgeon this? I just don't know what is cheaper, to get the shot or get a titer

if he has had chicken pox or the varicella vaccine in the past, then there is a good chance he already has immunity and a titer will prove that. however, getting the vaccine again will not do him harm. without health insurance, i am guessing the vaccine will be cheaper than getting bloodwork for the titer done. while there is no need to get both the shot and the titer done, if the titer shows that he is *not* immune after all, then he will have to get the vaccine anyway, so personally, I would just go ahead and get the vaccine.

It is about 50-90 plus potentially the cost of an office visit for the titer without insurance.

Never even thought of all that. He will just get the shot. Thank you!

You are wrong and misinformed and should really stop and listen to the correct information that has been given here. You do NOT have to get the vaccinations from a civil surgeon. You can get the vaccinations elsewhere and take the records of those vaccinations to the civil surgeon to transcribe onto the I-693.

Also, this forum is for AOS from family based visas such as the K-1. A new medical is not even required for those adjusting from a K-1 as long as their medical was done within a year of filing for AOS. They will not supply an I-130 either. And the OP was asking about the varicella vaccination, not the MMR, though no matter, any of them can be done by someone other than a civil surgeon. A civil surgeon can even refer you to another health-care provider to get your vaccinations and bring the records back to them.

Here is the correct information for you to read from the CDC website >

http://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/exams/ti/civil/vaccination-civil-technical-instructions.html#assessment

Vaccination Documentation

Acceptable vaccination documentation must come from a vaccination record, either a personal vaccination record or a copy of a medical chart with entries made by a physician or other appropriate medical personnel. Only those records of doses of vaccines that include the dates of receipt (month, day, and year) are acceptable. The document must not appear to have been altered, and dates of vaccinations should seem reasonable. Self-reported doses of vaccines without written documentation are not acceptable.
