Hi All,

I would like to inquire if anyone of certain faiths such as rastafari have gotten any discrimination during your interview? poepl make assumptions about people and I just wanted to seek advice. Thanks!

Didn't you ask this question last week about wondering if your husband should cut his hair for the interview because you fear he will be denied because of assumption? Just wondering why the new profile.

It would be hard to tell I guess. It's very unlikely a CO is going to say "I'm not approving you because you are a rastafarian" and there have been people on here who have been so in love they do not see the red flags and how suspicious their relationship looks to an outsider so then when the denial comes they might put it down to discrimination. I'm sure there may have been cases where someones appearance (e.g. dreadlocks to reference the thread created the other day) may have contributed to their denial but it would be hard to quantify.

I don't think his or my appearance should play any factor as opposites attract. his dreads are always well kept and he doesn't "look" like a "low life" or anything he is a hard working man. I just don't want anyone to see him as a rasta and automatiaclly make an assumption about his character as he is an upstanding, law abiding citizen.

How would he present himself for a job interview? Is that a good guideline?

he would present himself in the same way he would at the interview, well dressed and well mannered person.a presentable person.

My fiancé is Rastarfari. I'll let u know what happens after his interview. We just had a discussion about this and neither him or I feel it's necessary to cut his locks. He would never change who he is and i would NEVER ask him to. So now Rastafarians are not allowed the same rights as everyone else??

I am proud of my fiancé's choice in life. He is the most caring, loving, patient, giving man I've ever been with. I hope everyone sees and knows he's a rasta man. I hope his awesome personality, kindness, and charm sparks their interest and makes them google "Rastafari" and learn the real truth behind their beliefs.

no, just trying to find out if anyone has wondered this or has an input such as rasta answering informing that there was no discrimination during an interview or imposed perceptions...

Good luck....discrimination is the hardest crime to prove, and trying to sue the government for discrimination makes it 100 times harder.

Well then it's a good thing no one asked about filing discrimination lawsuits against USCIS.

One may want to educate themselves about the Rastafari movement. Smh
