Welcome back msbau764. Was wondering where you went!

There actually was quite a bit of snow on the ground in Dallas overnight (by Texas standards). They're still under a winter storm warning until noon today.

I understand them being closed in the weather. Safety first when dealing with winter weather! It just sucks because of the fact they are so behind already. Hopefully we are all done with this winter weather soon. I'm from Buffalo and we have definitely had our fair share this year....about ready for spring!

It actually probably doesn't affect our process since it's likely in the background check phase (I should be finding out where it is any day). The background checks are contracted out, per my congressman's office, which means the USCIS offices closing doesn't necessarily mean there is going to be no progress.

Thank you,

I will try to stay positif.

Both caseworkers I've been working with from the Senate said our application was going through security and being worked on a couple weeks ago, so I think you are right!

Whoa! I just got huge butterflies in my stomach. I'm so ready for NOA2 - but nervous all the same! I'm 3 weeks ahead of you. Oh boy. Does this mean my case may be going through checks too?

I'm feeling so many emotions.

Hey mondix,

Based on my experience as a former civil servant and the associated background checks I went through, saw others go through and was briefed on at various points in my federal career, it is my opinion that most all September filers have already passed the background checks by now. At this point, we're simply waiting on an adjudicator to get to our petition. FWIW.

I don't think that is right. I was told two weeks ago that my case was currently undergoing background checks, and when the Senate caseworker checked yesterday, it was still going through checks. So it's taken two weeks at minimum. I've also gone through several background checks while working for the government and they have all taken different amounts of time. Has someone told you directly that you're simply waiting on an adjudicator? Just curious.

Mondix, since you are 3 weeks ahead of me and I'm such a late September filer, it's very possible that you are all done with background checks!

Okay.

We need to email these people every single day. Everyday. I have a list of some reporters who have done articles about immigration. If anyone else has additional emails addresses please let me know. Here is the letter I made.

Subject: I feel like I am ready to lie down and die.

I feel like I am ready to lie down and die if I cannot have the emotional human contact a human being needs. As humans we live to make relationships, form communities, marry, have children, grow old and die. As depression continues to seep into my body and soul, I ask myself, how did my situation become so bad? I remember . . . it is because I don’t have my spouse/fiancé. The immigration process is a daunting, burdensome, lonely, never-ending nightmare no one understands nor seems to care about. Petition after petition, fees after fees, calls after calls, the hurry up and waits. . . . . Sobbing during Skype calls, kissing a computer screen, heartbreaking goodbyes at airports, this is how I ended up in this state of mind. To be denied this basic necessity is like being denied food or water. My body has slowly started dying. This is why I feel like I am ready to lie down and die if I cannot have my spouse/fiancé.

We are the group of people weeping in the dark. Please, who will help us?

Hey dogsinboots-

Well ok, we can agree to disagree then. I stand by my assertion. The truth isn't always given to caseworkers, FWIW, but whichever. I suspect that I've been given incorrect information on several occasions, as have others. Wbeem comes to mind in particular. He was told that his petition was in Nebraska for Pete's sake!

Finally, yes, I have been told that my petition is through the background checks and is waiting on adjudication. And that was more than a month ago.

So with our contradictory experiences, I think the only safe conclusion that can be drawn is that none of us really know where our petitions are, nor whether or not the background checks have concluded. All we can say with any certainty is that we're still waiting.

Hi guys I am back from my trip. It was so hard to get on that plan. I see I missed a lot of action in this thread...lol To jump in with the question of the back round check yes I was told that my case had already gone through background checks and is now waiting to be approve. Of course nothing is ever constant with TSC wouldn't surprise me if some were sent to have background checks done and other weren't may explain why approvals seem so erratic.

My congressman's office said that they use different contracting agencies for different reasons/countries/etc. Like you said, it's hard to know exactly where it's at, but to make the statement that it's waiting for an adjudicator isn't a fair one since you yourself do not know where it sits.

In the end it doesn't really matter because it will get done when it gets done.

Thanks this was a really hard trip for me for so many reason one I broke my tooth and ended up having to get a root canal done so I'm still in pain. Not to mention the biggest pain of all TSC. The only thing that is bringing me some joy is seeing August approvals coming in on a constant basis.
