This whole process is ### retarded from top - down. In 2 months I'm going to pass my one year since I applied last year in December.

Send AOS Aug 2nd, and IV Sept 12th (scanned 17th), and got a check list for AOS on Oct 3rd for wrong 2013 total income not matching whats on transcript when I also sent these fools account record that reflects changes in income.

God knows how much longer I have to wait for this lizard to finish. :(

I wonder if during winter time, they receive less petitions so NVC can start crunching out these as fast as possible.

Been at NVC for 6 months and still no light at the end of the tunnel... holiday season is coming and these people will be taking time off to be be with their families. So things most likely will move at slower pace.

Currently on hold with NVC...zzzzzZZZZZ

Also, my dad just lost his job so we can't use him as a joint sponsor anymore (I've lived out of America the last two years, so don't have 3 years tax returns). I have a friend's mom who offered to be the sponsor. What kind of proof do we have to provide of relationship with her since she's not related to me?

As far as I knew, we didnt need to send proof of relationship for co sponsor? Since really, anyone can be your joint sponsor. Its impossible to find a prood of relationship with a friend.

I didnt send any proof of relationship for my joint sponsor

When an I-864 is used with just a joint sponsor, no proof of relationship is needed. Example: the petitioner files an I-864 and their father files an I-864. No proof of relationship needed.

Proof of relationship is only needed when an I-864A is filed, and it's only between the household members. Example: the petitioner files an I-864, their father files an I-864, and their mother files an I-864A. The only proof of relationship needed is between the father and mother (copy of the marriage certificate would work in that case).

Folks, read the I-864 instructions. It's all in there ;) The last page is a checklist of items needed.

But the last page said proof of their residency in your household and relationship.

I sent a copy of her passport, mine, both driver's license, etc. I don't have any more proof to show she is my mom unless I get a dna test! lol

So you asked foe expedite and it was approved and now you want to wait about 5 months to schedule an interview?

Yes my economic situation changed and I have to work instead of school to support my family. It was either work or get public assistance but that was one thing I don't want to do .

Ah #######. I think I might made a mistake :/

Here's my situation

My wife filed I-864

My joint sponsor filed I-864

-my joint sponsor had filed taxes as married filing jointly. Both my joint sponsors and his spouse income was enough for the poverty line. Then I also send a I-864A since I read that since they filed jointly I needed the wife's consent as well

-I didn't send any proof of relationship since my joint sponsor only really filed the I-864

Did I make a mistake?? Should I be expecting a checklist??? ):

She really should have filed an I-864. I only ever recommend an I-864A to be filed when it's the spouse of the joint sponsor.

Example:

Petitioner -> I-864

Joint sponsor -> I-864

Joint sponsor's spouse -> I-864A

As for proof, a birth certificate with her name listed as the mother and then a copy of either her birth certificate or passport showing her name should be good enough for relationship. As for residency, copies of driver's licenses with both addresses listed and matching should have been sufficient.

Unless they don't catch it (which does happen), a copy of a marriage certificate probably should have been sent. Although, if they filed married filing jointly, that might be enough proof for them. I wouldn't send in anything unless they ask for it, if I were you.

Did you include W2s from both of them in conjunction with the tax transcripts? If you did, their addresses should be on the W2s, so that should cover the proof of residency part.

That's unfortunate but it might be still wise to get your spouse her asap this way no need to maintain two houses plus she can work in the states and help your financial situation. Just something to think about.

As far as the interview goes you can still get it done asap then get ur wife here in march because the immigration visa is valid for 6 months.
