You will need this case number when you are going to fill out your DS-160, book your medical and ask any questions from the Consulate.

You can also go on the https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/website to track the progress of your case. It will go from NVC, to In Transit, and then will finally say Ready.

I believe you also need the case number to schedule your biometrics appointment.

on Jan 23, 2015 I received a txt/email that our application was approved! NOA2!! so i knew I was officially on the waiting list for the NVC stuff.. but I ain't sweatin nothin! I was just thankful to have escaped the hellhole known as TSC

I received a text message notification when my petition was sent to the NVC. But you can also go to USCIS.gov and check your status.

CSC does not send a notification that a petition has been sent to NVC, TSC just does that. The only way for someone who has a CSC-approved case to find out if his/her case reached NVC is to call them. I'd wait at least 2 weeks. CSC is much slower in mailing files to NVC than TSC is.

CSC most certainly does send notices that the petition has been sent to NVC. I have my notice, on paper, right here, right now, from CSC that the petition has been sent to NVC.

I'm 99% sure that you are looking at your NOA2, which states your petition is being sent to the NVC. That is different. We all receive the NOA2 of course. TSC then updates your status online and notifies via e-mail and text message when it sends it to NVC. CSC does not.
