Hi all,

I'm getting together my paperwork for the K1 petition. For the proof of ongoing relationship and that we met in past two years, I was going to add 12-15 screen shots of skype chats showcasing 1-2 conversations each month since we met, which is about 10 months ago. I'm also going to add screen shots of Viber Calls, and Viber Call Logs. I'm going to show pictures of my passport stamps when I went to Ukraine on both trips .I'm going to add scanned copies of tickets that we got at an amusement park in Kiev, then I will add a picture of us together holding the tickets. I'm going to add other various pictures of us together at landmarks that make it obvious that we were in Ukraine.

Is this sufficient enough or should I be looking to add more?

Thanks,

Chris

you can also add at least scan copy of your engagement ring receipt, money transfer receipts, receipts of the gift you sent to her and love letters/cards.

Sounds good. If you have more proof of meeting within 2 years of filing, add that. Otherwise, front loading regarding proof of ongoing relationship is best done during the interview stage.

USCIS will not care about this extra information, but the consulate will. USCIS passes your petition package to the consulate. It's presumed that you're talking about front-loading your petition package for this purpose.

Go atop any VJ page, click "Embassy Info" and "Reviews: Embassy," and study both the overall trends and the recent reviews for Kiev. Pay closest attention to the worst stories. Also search your regional VJ forum for relevant threads -- in this case Russia/Ukraine/Belarus.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

The ring is definitely not an issue.

You cannot send enough, really. We've sent pictures from various places, definitely send "a kiss photo", if you have one, restaurant receipts, museum tickets, boarding passes, hotel receipts, even business cards, a few letters... But I think the consulate in Kiev will pay a lot more attention to it, as they will be asking questions.

Remember, the more, the better.

Good luck. :)

I'm up to page 40 of skype logs. I'm taking screen shots of the dates, and call timers, as well as some patches of conversations. I will be adding VIber Logs, that'll probably be another at least 20-30 pages. We talk every day quite a bit. I have about 26 pictures. Most of them her and I. I have one with her entire family, (parents and sister), and I have one with my girlfriend, her sister, and myself. Some of them are also pictures of us having coffee together while holding up the receipts. I have scanned photos of boarding passes, and baggage check tickets. I have images of my Passport entrance and exit stamps from Ukraine.

For my description of how we met. I haven't written it yet for the answer to question 34.a but should I keep it short and sweet or get into details?

That is completely up to you. Some have written novels describing how they met, some one sentence only and had no problems. My husband (then fiance) wrote several sentences on a separate sheet. My advice is to keep it simple and consise. We described how we first met (online), how our relationship developed, the dates of each visit and when we got engaged.

I sent the following:

  1. Pictures of us together alone (and a kiss photo, but no tongue, they don't want porn  )
  2. Pictures of us at various landmarks in Argentina.
  3. Pictures of me with him and his family.
  4. Pictures of us at a Cafe in Argentina, and a photocopy of the receipt of our meal there.
  5. Scans of my passport with the passport stamps.
  6. Photocopies of my boarding passes
  7. Screenshots of our skype conversations, 2x a month, around the 1st and 15th (to show a continued relationship).
  8. Text and call logs of me calling his magicjack number, or texting his email.

We brought updated logs and whatnot for the interview, and I was present for it. Its not usually required, but some embassies/consulates "unofficially require" the USC's presence, so check in on that.

I have 78 pages of skype logs from the day we started chatting up until today. Is that over kill?

Skype logs do not provide evidence of meeting in person.....so let's all agree that these are two separate things, the meeting in person and the evidence of a legitmate relationship.

The Skype logs can provide evidence of a relationship......78 pages.....god no, have mercy on the USCIS adjucator......but.....all relationships usually follow a normal pattern.....of getting to know each other....to discussing each other's wants and desires for the future.....to becoming intimate.....to agreeing to marry and live together. Select specific logs that document this evolution of your relationship. I suggest (and provided) a three page narrative that described our relationship and referenced specific different evidence to show these steps.

This is all for the interview....for the petition filing, they want to know about when you met in person.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

I have boarding passes, photographs, passport stamps as proof of meeting in person as well as some receipts and tickets from parks that we've taken photographs of together.

The Skype log is really just to show there is an ongoing relationship. Secondly, our conversations are mostly in Greek, so, and most are spoken conversations, not text conversations. So the log is fractured. Sometimes she would be talking and I would be replying with text, or vice versa.

The whole log is unnecessary, just a couple snippets of you two communicating 2-3 times a month over the span of when you filed up to the interview.
