Another slow day at the office eh?

Yup another slow day, in my country they would say, they run like a horse and stop like a mule hahahah

Are there any other recent NVC arrivals here? It's been a month since our approval and when I called NVC a few minutes ago they still have not received our case. I then asked the (very nice!) phone rep how long after they receive it can I expect to wait before getting our case number. He said it's an additional 30 days after the day they receive the petition.

I'm about to have a nervous breakdown.

No sweet heart just relax they are taking their time is all, it will arrive in about a week I bet so don't worry this is the easy part. :D So take a deep breath and know we are here for you. (L)

When I called they told me it took 5 weeks from NOA2 date for them to receive your case and then another 30 days for them to assign a case # and IIN. My NOA2 date is 8/18/14 and they "received" my case on 9/17 and they assigned the case # & IIN same day. I was able to submit DS-261 on 9/18. HOWEVER . . . now my AOS fee won't be unlocked for about 20 business days from 9/18 because they haven't finished processing my case into their system.....

A few of my friends on VJ had their cases "received" by NVC about 3-4 weeks after NOA2 date and the case # & IIN's for them were assigned about 2 weeks after and two of them have already paid their AOS fee as well and submitted DS-261.

My point is, NVC says many things so just keep checking and calling twice a week if you can to follow up. Don't drive yourself crazy (like I was). Best of luck and I really hope your case speeds up!

Great information thank you very much. :D(L)

I don't mind having a new thread.

Ok then we have another for monthly threads thank you very much for your input it helps tremendously. :)(L)

Yep, I'm also a recent NVC arrival. I got my NOA2 from CSC on September 5 and NVC received my case on September 17 (from what I've seen, NSC takes longer to ship the cases to NVC), but as of today I don't have a case number yet. They told me the exact same thing, that I have to wait 30 days from the date NVC received it.

They lie, keep calling every other day or so or once a week how ever you like but don't leave it up to them. I bet they take their grandmothers pudding from them at the convalescent home they put her in and laugh. :D(L)

Patiently waiting on the case complete.

Soon my dear soon you will be on cloud nine. :) (L)

I also vote for a new thread

Excellent thank you for your input I think it's a land slide. ;)(L)

So another NVC issue.

Two days ago I received the 60 day email about documents received on 17th September. I had not sent any documents

Hubby called NVC yesterday and spoke to a supervisor. They said it was an email on their system. I had emailed them beginning of August to see if I might take Singapore Police Certificate to interview. Didn't hear back and sent PCC to NVC late August and got a scan date of 29th August. They replied to me on 17th September saying there wasn't enough information in the email. Their email then generated the 60 day email to me on 23rd September. #######. Do these people know what they are doing but I guess we all know the answer to that.

I then called today, was hung up on by Gus as he couldn't get me through to a Supervisor. Called back, waited another 46 mins to be told don't worry. As soon as they look at PCC they will close the case and give me an interview date. Find it hard to believe anything they say.

Will wait until they get to the 29th August reviews and if I don't get a CC I will be on the phone. pronto!!!

I believe there is no reason to worry about the email issue, judging from other people's past experience. Yes, emails do show up as scanned input in the case, and they do take a long time to respond to. Once the checklist responses are satisfied, all emails will most probably be ignored and won't affect closing the case promptly. I think it was LoveMeTico who uncovered this tidbit with much anguish and investigative reporting a couple of months ago.

You would think wouldn't you. It is disgusting how we are being treated. I am such a professional in my working life and yet find myself speechless when on the phone with these guys. Don't want to lose it and who knows what they might write on our files. Like lets make them wait another 60 days!!!!!

You would think wouldn't you. It is disgusting how we are being treated. I am such a professional in my working life and yet find myself speechless when on the phone with these guys. Don't want to lose it and who knows what they might write on our files. Like lets make them wait another 60 days!!!!!

Exactly and the saddest thing of all is we have no recourse. I'm the same way very professional in my field, they actually give me all the really difficult cases because they trust me to not do anything stupid or say anything inappropriate. I have thought the same thing, be nice don't get upset they might really mess you up. But we can still e-mail about the nasty ones. I don't know I sort of give up to be honest I'm really tired and can't sleep anymore. I want to cry but I can't let my parents see me do so. God willing all this will be done with soon. :( Prayer is all we have but I believe it's the strongest tool we have. (L) (L)

Forgot to mention other details from my interview with all the drama:

1. All x-rays were returned to me and fingerprints were taken of me and my wife before the CO interview. No digital photos were taken. Kids were exempt... all four are under 14 years old.

2. All my originals were returned, including our PCCs since I provided copies of them in the IV package... that last bit was a surprise. CO simply compared the copies with originals then stamped the copies and handed over the originals.

3. CO did ask for the Kuwait marriage certificate even though we provided the US marriage certificate which predates it. I had it with me. Made a copy himself and stamped it then returned the original. He asked if I had a translation which I didn't (it was in Arabic) and he let it go at that.

4. My wife was called and asked a few questions, in my presence. CO asked several questions he asked of me about her and knew the answers by then to verify I was telling the truth. I did pre-warn my wife to tell the exact truth and not hide anything. I also warned her not to expand unnecessarily, or guess an answer if she wasn't sure. All our answers matched.

5. We both took an oath and digitally signed our DS-260 forms with our fingerprints. Kids were also called to the window and were given the chance to take the oath if they wanted to. They did with much excitement. I digitally signed for them.

6. CO asked for all available old passports. I was ready with nearly a dozen of them. He went through them and stamped the old foil visas with a "Cancelled Without Prejudice" stamp, even though they were expired already. The really old ones that used to be stamped-in in passports were ignored. CO also elected not to cancel our current B1/B2 visas, remarking specifically that he trusts us not to abuse them and risk our IV case. That was towards the end of the tense interview.

Note to all, especially those who used a lawyer to prepare their paperwork: Your lawyer will not be with you at the interview. Be well prepared mentally and documentarily. Arm yourself with the USCIS guidelines pertaining to your category. Tell the truth always but don't volunteer unnecessary information. Stay calm and courteous throughout, no matter what happens. Don't cower from defending your case, logically and calmly, if you notice the CO is missing the mark or attempts to intimidate you. Don't let the CO disarm you with his/her sweetness. Stay pleasantly formal throughout and keep your guard against any possible left-hooks. You're in for the interview of your life so don't fumble the ball needlessly.

Saying all that, I hope each of you will be one of the 90+% of all applicants who have a nice and uneventful 10-minute interview.

What a helpful and well-written piece that should help many. My advice to those who may encounter a difficult interview is read it! Hopefully ours will be straightforward but I am beginning to wonder now. Still I am not going to focus on my interview at the moment. Let's get a CC first!!
