Ok so I just read this and wondered how much truth was in it?! Will it cause delays to those already waiting at the TSC?

Surely we've had enough of those!

The system is slow because it is the system, not because of DACA.

That was at CSC, I would hope they would send most of the DACA petitions back there again, TSC has enough ####### to deal with.

Since I wrote the originally quoted message, please let me explain my views on this matter.

There is absolutely no logical way the expansion of DACA (as is currently being reported as being the President's intention through his planned Executive Action at the end of August/early September) will not impact work volumes at USCIS.

Adding more petitions to process by making more illegals eligible to apply for some form of temporary relief from deportation will mean just that: More envelopes to open. More petitions to adjudicate. More biometrics to capture. More FBI name checks to perform. More interviews to schedule. More, more, more. Anyone who says that that will not have an impact on case processing times is lying -- plain and simple. So what if they hire more officers -- does anyone believe that: a) the current performance is good enough that there are sufficient number of officers to handle the existing workload? and b) that they will actually hire enough officers to handle the flood of new applications?

If you look at random receipts around your own receipt numbers and check their status, you will notice how many of these DACA petitions there truly are and how they are treated virtually no differently than any other petition being processed. The only difference is a DACA petition comes from an illegal alien while your petition has followed all the rules and regulations. In every other way, they are treated and adjudicated like your petitions.

As it is now, the service centers are processing petitions at a snail's pace. US Citizens and lawful permanent residents wait months if not years to have their petitions adjudicated. The stress is so obvious just reading through all the posts on this and other fora. There are an estimated 11 million illegals in the U.S. Imagine if just 10 percent of them were eligible for some form of relief from deportation like the 500,000 "Dreamers" were? That is 1.1 million more petitions for USCIS to process.

I am not against some type of comprehensive immigration reform but these types of petitions cannot and should not delay the adjudication of legal petitions.

Finally, the comment about these being petitions from "kids" -- while many of them are, many are also from adults. Eligibility for DACA extends to those up to 31 years old as of June 15, 2012 (that would mean someone who is 33 today). So, no, unless you have a skewed view of what a "kid" is, a 31 year old hardly qualifies.
