Hi guys,

I am filling the form i-485 and i cannot undertand some questions and i need your advises please

*Current USCIS status

*Expires on (is it i-94 expiry date ?)

*Current Occupation (I can write the last occupation before moving to US?)

*Where exactly can I find the "noimmigrant visa number" ? is it the "control number" ?

Also i have other question, when i entred Los Angeles Airport the custom agent did not give me i-94 form but now i can find it online , so can I just print the onlie form and submit it with application ?

Thanks in advance

Hi guys,

Whatever visa you used to enter the US.

*Expires on (is it i-94 expiry date ?)

Yes, the I-94 expiration date.

*Current Occupation (I can write the last occupation before moving to US?)

I am not sure. You technically don't have a job anymore, right? You can write something general about what you used to do, I guess. For example, I would write "computer scientist" and be done with it. An unemployed computer scientist is still a computer scientist, no?

*Where exactly can I find the "noimmigrant visa number" ? is it the "control number" ?

No, it's the number written in red on your visa page. But if you used VWP to enter, then I have no idea.

Also i have other question, when i entred Los Angeles Airport the custom agent did not give me i-94 form but now i can find it online , so can I just print the onlie form and submit it with application ?

Yes, the I-94 is now electronic, so if you need a copy, just print out the online page. I didn't even submit that with my AOS, I think. I had passport stamps and visa and such...

Thanks in advance

Gern geschehen! Sorry I couldn't be more helpful on the Occupation question!

Welcome to the forum.

Are you adjusting from a Family-based (i.e., K1) visa or a Work, Student & Tourist-based (WST) visa? Your profile shows K-1 visa, yet you posted in the WST-based AOS visa forum?? :time: It helps everyone that uses the forum.

:guides: easily accessible at the top of the forum page, in particular, the K1/K3 AOS guide. Check out the Example Forms section, also accessible at the top of the forum page.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

Topic has been moved from AOS from a work Student or Tourist Based Visa forum to AOS from a Family Based Visa forum as the OP is adjusting from a K-1 visa

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

1. K1 visa holder, see http://www.visajourney.com/examples/INS-Form-I-485.pdf

2. yes

3. if you left your previous job in your home country, you can put 'none' or 'unemployed'.

4. it is the number in red (it is not on the I-129F petition NOA2 as someone else said - that is the alien registration number, or A number) - there's a picture here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/155780-non-immigrant-visa-number/

5. yes, that is what the I-485 instructions say to do for K1 visa holders (pg 4, item 10b)
