How is this possible? Approval notice was dated June 20. The approval notice indicates approved and case forward to the consulate. The RFE is dated June 24. I've not been able to find anyone who has had this happen to them. Usually the RFE comes before approval right? How can I be approved and then be unapproved? I'm not denied but an RFE obviously means I won't be approved (or shall I say re approved? ) without sending in what they want .

Secondly, the RFE wants more proof we met in the last 2 years. Well, I had already sent flight and hotel receipts, and 5 photos of us together (different outfits indicating different days). I'm not sure what else to send other than more photos and a copy of my passport entry and exit stamps. It's just weird, doesn't flight and hotel receipts and photos prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that we met?

It sounds like someone pressed the wrong button. They intended to send an RFE, accidentally approved you, then reversed themselves and issued the RFE.

Photos are only secondary evidence. Ticket planes and hotel receipts do not proof both of you have met in person. Did you send passport stamps including biographical pages before? What about copies of your boarding passes?

We got the same RFE for more evidence of having met. So I sent a one page letter, detailing all our meetings, and what we did and where we stayed. Then bank statements from both of us showing transactions at the same time, showing we were in the same place. Copies of receipts for the zoo, restaurants, train rides, passport stamps etc.

Oh to clarify we got our RFE before approval, but I understand they can send one anytime they like.

Hi Arrowstar,

I will be sending my I129F Package in very soon. My fiancé and I have been together for almost a year.

With the RFE notice that you received was the issue that you needed more proof that you and your fiancé met in person within the last two years or was it that you needed more proof that you met two tears ago?

I only ask because I was speaking with a immigration case work and there seemed to be some confusion. I was under the impression that you have to have met your partner in person within the past two years, while the case worker was under the impression that you had to have established the relationship for at least two years.

Please shed some light on this issue! Thanks.

The requirement is that you have to have met within the past two years. It doesn't matter how long you have been dating, but of course the longer you have been dating the better it looks.

So you can have met your fiancé a month ago went to her or his country, spend a few days there and as long as both of you are free to marry, you can file for a k1 visa.

Good luck on your journey!!!

Where did you find this immigration case worker? They should know how it works, and they obviously do not. You were correct. You need to have met face-to-face at least one time in the 2 years prior to filing the I-129F petition. How long ago you established the relationship has nothing to do with the requirements of the I-129F.
