Meka, you need to think ahead a little bit, too, about the Affidavit of Support requirements. Make sure you've got the financial resources to sponsor his immigration, and that you can prove it with income statements and three years' worth of tax returns. If not, you'll have to have US citizen or LPR co-sponsors.

Explain in detail please. I want to make sure I understand

You said you have 3 kids, right? You'll need to make a minimum of $34,888 a year to be the only sponsor. This depends a little bit on how old they are, if they are older than 21, then the minimum income is lower.

Be aware the the process of immigration is going to cost thousands of dollars as well - filing fees, medical fees, plane tickets, new driver's license, maybe driving lessons, etc. Also, a person who comes on a K1 visa is ineligible to work for the first couple of months, but even on a CR1 visa, your spouse might find it difficult to obtain work. You have to prepared to financially and emotionally support this person in your house for let's say a minimum of 6 months. That can be difficult on a relationship.

It is great to be in love, but without thinking of the logistics, you are setting yourself up for failure.

please to study the I-864 and I-864P documents on the USCIS website, when you have a free moment to download them. Then another 3 or 4 days in reading them. Although Cliff Notes' versions are cool - is best that you review/read/understand the financial side of a spousal visa, not only what it will cost you, but what the DoS wants to see on YOUR financial background.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
