filled out the form finally. husband didnt listen to me about the beneficiary's mailing address becasue some stupid friend of his told him to write his address since mails in pakistan get lost lol. so i guess we will be getting a checklist for that or maybe NVC will accept his address lets see. will mail it out tomm morning. thankyou guys for the help

Well, we hired a lawyer two weeks ago and we are still waiting for the IV invoice. So there's that! Ugh...

If you filed for only 2013 but not 2012 and 2011 then you don't check it and I passed up Part 3, #7 I failed to put 1 for immigrant your sponsoring. Thank God for Jsumner86 bless her heart.

Oh ok then we would have to fill out the form again since we checked that box and also put '0' in part 3 where they ask if u r married then put 1. So I will ask my husband to put n/a there. Thanks soloenta

Is there somebody else who didn't file for all three years and just 2013 did they check that box where they asked for if u filed all federal tax returns? Please confirm till my husband is sleeping and I can ask him to correct in the morning? Thanks

Congratulations to all the folks who've recently had case completes.

It has been a very long process for us (and many others), as we lodged our application in April 2013 and still do not have a CC. The USCIS became heavily burdened at that time because Obama called on the agency to adjudicate a new immigration benefit called Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). Thus putting all of the I-130's to the back of the line. The young adults (DACA) did not need to to be processed with this urgency, - as they are all living, working and schooling in the US presently. Unfortunatley, this decision caused families and loved ones who were (and still are) processfing I-130's to be apart for inhumane, excessive periods of time. Another ill-advised government decision was to centralize i-130 processing and stop Embassies and Consulates abroad from accepting filings. And then adding insult to injury...pushing all said applications to the NBC. Most of us on this forum experienced being transferred out of the NBC to one the processing centers. Thus causing monumental delays.

These governmental agencies, that are paid for by us, were created to make the lives of ordinary American citizens a little bit better. The current system is archaic, cumbersome and wasteful. And of course, - lacking decent, helpful customer support. Hopefully there will be change soon.

Thankfully, there is Visajourney...And many members on this site, who are willing to take the time and help others out through this process. Saylin's wiki and this forum have been a great help.

And so we continue to wait, going on 16 months. Hopefully, we get our CC soon too.

Well said. This process is so frustrating and shouldn't need to be. We have a similar timeline, so fingers crossed we cross paths in Sydney at an interview very soon!

Guys I found a mistake again that we might have made. In part 6 of sponsor's income they ask u

1. Employed as

1A) name of employer

Then in 3 they have a box saying 'retired from'

And 3A) company name

So basically if u r employed and u have checked box 1 then u wouldn't fill company's name in 3a right? We mistakenly did. They don't ask u for company's name if u r still employed correct?

You need to fix 13.a.1 - Needs to match the total income, not the adjusted income. It's what you can find on line 22 of your 1040.

You mean my wife .

I see a lot of the same questions over and over, and some panic at least.. One thing people fail to do, that I think is a brilliant idea is.. Print out the instructions and the I-864 form.. and go one by one for each part of the form, and the instructions to make sure it's clear for you. When my wife first looked at the form it did seem confusing, but she did this and it was a lot easier as she read the instructions to the I-864. Double check it or triple check it to make sure it's all correct. I know she checked it about 5 or 6 times to make sure if she made any mistakes before we sent ours off.

Panicking really doesn't help, and to be honest if it takes you a few days, it takes you a few days. Don't rush something that can delay a process. The I-864 form isn't there to confuse you. It's pretty clear. Anything that isn't applicable to you, just put N/A or none to be safe.

I'm trying to be helpful and not to offend anyone here, just an idea that can help make this process a little bit easier and not to panic.

They still ask you.. If you look at image below, I separated the questions for you.. In the red box, which is if you're still employed, it still ask which company, and in the blue if you're retired...

my wife is the US petitioner and lives since 2010 with me abroad. she hasnt worked at all since she lives in the Netherlands.

we got married in 2012.

the IRS says she is NOT required to file tax (1040) since she has no income.

so we now the IRS sended us Non-Filling Letters from the past 3 years.

the problem... or maybe not, is that on those Non-Filling letters her old married name is printed. since she hasnt filled any tax returns after she got divorced in 2008.

the IRS says that this is the only information that they have under her social security number.

maybe someone can get an answer in this

I think your tax returns have to reflect the name your social security is under. It confuses them if you put your married name, and trying to match them up.

My wife wasn't required to file for the year 2012, because she was migrating and thus had no income and was a student. She just wrote a note in the cover letter and a continuation page that she was not required to file for a tax return due to not making no income that year. They accepted it. No problem. She didn't check the box, because it says if you filed for each of the three most recent tax years, which she didn't file one year.
