We sent out packet on out last Monday, I followed to the dot the list that had been compiled by Ayla. We did have wedding pics, all our joint accounts had been created, joint car insurance policy as I added her on as a driver. ( Thank God she doesn't have to take the NY state Drivers test as the insurance company recognizes her German Drivers license as valid in USA ( Yay). I also included a loan pre-approval letter for a mortgage that we got for buying our first house together, ( PS. We just put a down payment on our first house on friday last week), and we included a copy of her new Health Insurance card that has both her and my name on it as it is issued by my employer!

Question for you guys, The packet was recieved by them on Wednesday according to USPS tracking, Do we know approximately how long before a case number is issued and they send out the NOA-1's as her i-94 will expire at the end of May 05/31/15. Also we are going to try and get a letter from the local USCIS office for a possible 3 day leave to Toronto Canada as my brother is getting married on May 30, and both my wife and myself are co-sponsorer's (financially) for his wedding reception, Dont know what the chances of getting the approval are for that but lets see!

Hi everyone, preparing to file AOS soon. I know JolyDan has asked a similar question, but I still feel unsure. We have gotten married at the courthouse and plan on going to the SSA office soon to change my maiden name to my husband's. (I already have a SS card under my maiden name) Is this advisable or is it better to wait until after AOS is done to change my name? We assume it makes more sense to change name now (so future documents like my green card will bear my new family name), but am now unsure how to explain a name change on the AOS forms. Do we just include a simple statement about marriage and a copy of our marriage cert?

Hi!

I have sent my AOS with my new name after reading a lot about it. My driver's license is now under my new name and so is my insurance card. The wedding certificate is the proof of your name change. if you take a look on the AOS papers, theres always a part where it says : other names

good luck!

We are planning on using her AOS because she wants to visit her family in Germany in September! How soon did you get the biometrics letter after getting NOA1?

My NOA1 came April 16th and the letter came Saturday. My appointment was suppose to be may 5th but i'll be in Michigan to help my sister in law with her 3 kids and a new baby. So I booked an info pass this morning and went to my local office with my letter and my plane tickets and they did my biometrics right away. It wasn't a big deal at all, the office was almost empty!
