I don't meet the income required for the Affidavit of support to bring my Filipina wife to the U.S., I have no job and my wife has no joint sponsor but could my wife still get a U.S. visa with me having $82,000. in my bank account? I was going to buy house but maybe I could use my savings to get her here. Thanks for any help.

I don't know if not having a job at all will be frowned upon, but you might get approved. It couldn't hurt to find a back-up joint sponsor.

You need a joint sponsor. Cash is counted as an asset, but at a pretty low rate. And I doubt it they will count the asset only, without regular income. You'll run out of cash in 2-3 years and then what? You sponsor your spouse for 5 years minimum (if she gets her citizenship in 5 years).

Okflyboy is right. You need a sponsor. From the USCIS website "You must prove the cash value of your assets is worth five times the difference of the amount of your income subtracted from the 125% minimum poverty level". You might have that covered for one year, but USCIS also says "When you sign an affidavit of support you accept responsibility for financially supporting the sponsored immigrant until they become a U.S. citizen or are credited with forty quarters of work". Don't think USCIS will believe you have that covered without a job.

Assets for a spouse are 3 times, not 5. So, if it is just the 2 of you, then you would need a bare minimum of $60k. Read through the I-864 instructions.

One way to find out is to try with the option to appeal the process. What you need to know is here.

Sure doesn't hurt to have a back up sponsor as a safety net and when dealing with the USCIS from experience, not dealing with a board for anything, just one individual. Doesn't seem right.

Or even trying to find some kind of a job. Sure doesn't help to have a government that is shipping our jobs overseas. Just recently, GM shut down a plant in Janesville, WI laying off over 4,000 people. A pot and pan manufacture in Manitowoc left for China laying off another 3,000 people, and the list goes on and on. Look at Detroit.

My son-in-law had a good paying job near Milwaukee that was moved to China, but found another in South Carolina, and can't see my grandkids anymore. Kid brother had a nice paying job, married a woman from the Philippines that is a skilled nurse, the I-864a helped them. She is working, kid brother in his line of work can't find a job.

There are ways to work around this, you just have to find them, just can't sit idly at home.

Lots of speculative wrong answers here but this one is the correct on. If it's only a two-person household and you are "employable" you'll probably be OK, but it's still a judgement call by the Consular Officer. They are trained to consider the totality of the circumstances, so factors you haven't mentioned, like how long you haven't worked, whether you CAN and will work, the employ-ability and plans of your foreign spouse etc. will all be considered.

IMO, USEM known for their stringent interview, I would suggest having a joint sponsor will be a good idea to have your bases covered. Good luck!

Unless the OP has disclosed some more information I missed, there is not enough information for form the above conclusion. Not everybody needs belt AND suspenders.

I live in a right to work state, a job can be here today gone tomorrow.

Logic does not come into this.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

As usual, nobody here can possibly apply any context to the above remarks, so they appear to be useless.

You polled everybody?

That was quick.
