For the IV packet, the marriage certificate and birth certificate have to be original or certified copies. How is everyone sending in their's, certified copies or original? Can a lawyer issue certified copies or is there any other way? I just realized it would be a big headache if I send in originals and they get lost in transit or NVC loses them. So for me it is certified copies for all civil documents except the PCC. I understand that though I will be sending in certified copies to NVC, I will have to produce the originals at the time of interview. Am I right?

A certified copy is a copy from the issuer. It is not a notarized copy. For example.... I had an unreadable birth certificate. I had to order a new one from Vital Statistics in British Columbia, Canada because they issued the original. The new one I ordered is called a certified copy because it is from the original issuer.

I think this is something that needs to be clarified

According to the instructions here http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/submit/how-to-submit-documents-to-the-nvc.html there is no mention of having to wait to receive an ENROLL accepted email before emailing anything to NVC. This is what is says:

Group B: Optional Electronic Processing - Choose from below

If your case is processing as part of Group B (see Table 1 above), then you may choose between electronic or mailing forms and documents to NVC.

Electronic >> (Submit scanned forms and documents by email)

If you wish to use electronic processing, you must first opt-in to electronic processing by following the steps below.

  1. Send an email to the NVC at NVCElectronic@state.gov.
  2. Enter the code “ENROLL” followed by your NVC Case Number in the Subject line of the email. For example: ENROLL GUZ2009123123. Refer to ONE CASE per email.
  3. Include in the body of the email:
    • Your name;
    • Your NVC case number;
    • The petitioner’s name and date of birth (if the visa petition is employment based, include the employer’s company/organization name instead of the petitioner’s name and date of birth);
    • The principal applicant’s name and date of birth; and
    • List all email addresses where you wish to receive correspondence from the NVC regarding your case.

      NOTE: If you chose to submit forms and documents electronically by email, then you MUST continue to submit all forms and documents by email.

  4. Once you have sent your opt-in e-mail to the NVC, you may follow the Group A: Electronic Processing guidelines above to submit documents to the NVC.

No mention of waiting for ENROLL accepted email before emailing the AOS or IV.

Saylin can you verify this as there seems to be a discrepancy somewhere? Saylin did you wait for the ENROLL accepted email before you emailed anything to NVC?

As you've noticed, there's really no clear instructions on the DOS website. But, from what I've gathered over the years, you need the acceptance email before you can send the email packages. I sent my packages as soon as I could (before getting an acceptance email), and a few weeks later (after getting my acceptance email), during my daily calls to NVC, an operator suggested I re-send them now that I'm enrolled in EP. Unfortunately, to this day, I don't know if NVC reviewed my original packages sent BEFORE acceptance or if it was the second set I emailed AFTER acceptance *shrug*.

I'd suggest a couple people here (in the EP program) actually ask some operators this question and see what the majority answer is.

saylin - may i be added to the case complete thread... i guess my previous post got lost somewhere up above. thank you so much for all your help! God Bless!

I don't manage the case complete thread no0pb.gif Just go to the thread and post in there ;)

I got the same message - just have your wife take in the new paperwork to the interview, and if they ask to see it then have her pull them out. Did you send in your 864 based on assets or income?? I did assets, so I think thats why I got that message.

My AOS is based on income. I average 4,000 a month, and I did'n't qualify, though, I only had 1 month and a half of pay stubs. I recently moved back from France to establish residency that's why I dont have proof of income for any longer than that

I hope your right. I was hoping for a case complete for my birthday. 3-20. But I don't think so. Another member just received cc in 37 biz days. If that would be my case then it would be 3-31. Our anniversary is 4-1. I'd be happy for a nice anniversary present! I got a bit excited when I saw a member got cc the day after a false checklist. The sooner the better. It would be nice if we could get an early May interview! Good luck!

The 37 days is for the whole process. I think the clock start clicking when they enter the pkts to the system. In our cases it is March 04th. So 15 - 16 business days from there..... (I might be wrong as well)...

But will keep the fingers crossed!!! reading.gif

By tried, do you mean they applied, but got denied? If so, you'll have to answer 'yes' to that question.

Hi Saylin!

At time of providing proof of US domicile by petitioner with the AOS package, in post N1,N2 it is recommended to write letter. Provided example of letter contains NAME, SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER, FORM I-1864 and No. 15 country of domicile. I don't see any I-1864 in google and what does 15 country of domicile mean ?

Also i am wondering why are we doing passport delivery registration and for which stage? thanks

Yes, they applied. They wanted to come for my graduation, but were denied.

Also, for vaccination, they will get their medical done. So do I answer yes for vaccination (i.e. yes, I have all the requires vaccination)

PS: I am filling 260 for my parents.

It's supposed to be I-864. I copy and pasted what someone sent me. It's now corrected. On the old I-864 form, question 15 was asking for country of domicile. I've also updated post 2 to reflect the correct question number as the I-864 has changed since that was posted.

I have no idea what you're talking about i regards to "passport delivery registration".

Yes, they applied. They wanted to come for my graduation, but were denied.

PS: I am filling 260 for my parents.

If they were denied, then write yes, and explain.

If they don't CURRENTLY have all the required vaccines and documentation, then write no. If you write yes, you'll be lying.

Can anyone tell me if my husband has to do the fingerprint police check or just the name one? I've looked at the country specific documents but haven't seen anywhere it said which one.

Not sure. I know for Canada, a fingerprint check is only needed if you've been convicted, but I don't know if it's the same for Australia.
