Hey Hey!! Congrats!

I've been kind of quiet too...

I got all depressed because we got put into AP for something stupid but after 33 days the visa was issued and he received it 5 days later.

On 10/10 I drove to Canada to go get him and on 10/12 we drove back, the land crossing POE took about 45 minutes. On 10/14 he applied for his SSN and he got it on 10/17. Today he went to the DMV to exchange his Canadian license for a NY license and that went smoothly, he was in an out of the DMV in 30 minutes which is unheard of!

We're not married yet, the wedding is 11/5. It went from being a low profile courthouse wedding with a dress from a bridal sample sale and my fiance wearing a nice suit to this almost over-the-top courthouse wedding with a very pricey dress, a tux rental, wedding invitations, a limo, lunch at a nice restaurant and an expensive 2 tier wedding cake.

My mom made me feel bad because I was apparently robbing her of "the experience" so I let her take over all the planning, I know she just wants this to be a day we'll remember but there's so much ####### to think about and it's stressing me out. This is what I was trying to avoid! We had the idea that we were going to do 2 weddings in the beginning but I refuse to go through all this ridiculousness a second time, nope nope nope.

Sorry for the mini life story!

today is one month post-interview for us - still in AP. :clock: although, i don't start counting our days in AP until October 6 - which is when my fiance turned in the document requested at the interview. so we're really only talking about 2-3 weeks.

we haven't seen much progress - only an occasional "status date" update on CEAC - which i believe correspond to email inquiries (from me or my senator) about our case. my senator is supposed to be following up again today - so maybe we will get some news next week.

i try not to get upset about things out of my control. the waiting sucks, for sure, but i'm confident that we'll get the visa. hopefully sooner rather than later. :)

and congrats to sweetswinks and jfgk! happy to hear that you are both together with your loved ones. (L)

Hahaha LOL, that is exactly what is happening to me, but with my mother-in-law  Your story is very similar. We were supposed to have a simple, parents-only, no dress, no cake, no reception courthouse ceremony. But his mother feels like we're not 'taking it seriously' since this one is the actual legal wedding, even though our real wedding is in July. She took over without telling us and planned a photographer, wedding albums, 35 guests, a church, a reception, hotel rooms, catering, flowers, cake etc. We had to tell her to stop! We compromised on some small things, but she's not getting the rest.. Now she's mad at us and answers everything with 'whatever', which everyone knows is a woman's way of saying: 'Do what you want, but I'll never forgive you'. The I ultimate shocker was when I told her I am wearing a dress from H&M I bought online for 80 Euros!
