Why would they issue my DH visa for only 2 months. We had 10months of AP. We renewed documents in mid December. The visa was issued Jan 15. It expires March 17. He has an obligation on March 15 and can leave no earlier than March 16. That is cutting it too close for comfort.

Can he enter the US on March 17? Or much he enter at the latest on March 16?

I thought we had a 6 month window?

Help please

You usually do. Maybe his medical is expiring by that date?

We renewed the medical/TB and police report in December-- If it was his actual physical exam from a year ago, then it would have happened at the end of March.

You're time line says "3/17/2013 Medical". This coincides with the expiration date of your husbands visa. If he only redid parts of the medical, the original medical date from March 2013 still counts. If this should be the case, he has until 3/17 to enter the US or will have to redo the medical or the whole process. Call the embassy if unsure.

It's amazing how many questions can be resolved with a 2 minute Google search...

LOL!! Good eyes. It does indeed. I thought it was much later but dammit if I didn't check my own timeline. I'll blame it on Brain Fog from Visa Approval-itis.

Thanks for straightening me out :P So ready to be done with this tedious and annoying process...

Okay so--- March 17, does he have to enter ON or Before that date?

(He has to enter no later than ON 3/17 -> last day of the visa validility, but I wouldn't cut it that close.)

yeah we could get him here by the 16th though I'm hoping for someway to bypass the obligation. But I wanted at least that one day cushion if his flight got delayed or canceled-- that he would have the 17th as a back up.

hopefully he comes sooner after 3/10 (our 2 yr) and before 3/17.... small window

If he comes after your 2yr mark, his visa will automatically convert from a CR to IR visa. This will save you $$$ since you don't have to remove conditions in two years after he enters the US. He receives a green card valid for 10 years right away.

Well we hoped for more than a one week window to get him here after our 2 year mark but...it is what it is!

He could show up on your wedding anniversary date and get the IR1. Just have a copy of the marriage certificate to show the CBP to make sure they stamp the passport correctly.

I'll be brutally honest here. He waited 10 months in AP. Does this last obligation REALLY matter that much? He's leaving the country.... Better to be in the USA before that visa expires!

that's really close,

however,

you have notice today or have realized today,

about it.

so, refactor that plan, get him ON the plane on 14 March. You might be missing time zones, layovers, an international date line, etc, and the 14th of March is a good date to jump.

may i join....so u mean better to go US in iR than Cr 1 ?

Hi! IR1 also known as Immediate Relative visa is given if you are married to your US citizen spouse for 2 yrs+, 10 yrs GC will be granted to you. CR1 on the other hand is Conditional Relative Visa wherein they will grant you 2 yrs GC (this visa is issued to those who are married less than 2 yrs). Then 90 days prior to your 2 yrs stay in US, you need to apply again at USCIS to lift your visa condition and change it to IR1. We applied for CR1, after my interview last Aug. 5, 2013 (it was approved) we celebrated our 2nd year anniversary Aug. 26, 2013. Due to typhoons (Embassy was close for almost 1 week) and random holidays my visa process has been delayed. But they become blessing in disguise because during the final review of my visa Aug. 29, 2013, the CO granted me IR1 Sept. 4, 2013.

The advantage of IR1 is that you no longer need to adjust your condition, plus it will save you with lots of expenses...the negative part you'll wait for quite a while for your 2nd yr wedding anniversary.

Yep,he will have to let this thing go as disappointing as it is. We just can't risk it. However, he won't buy the plane ticket out until the embassy tells him without a doubt there is absolutely no way around this March 17 deadline [without a big hassle].

Its really unreal at this point... like damn. I mean.... I don't think I'll believe it until he's here. Every time I say "One way ticket to the US" I get the biggest grin ever though!!! Its like a thrill ride-- so exciting and so terrifying, but I am beyond ready for this ride to start.

Thanks again to everyone that kept me informed, entertained, and sane through the process.
