Our Story

  1. We are all keeping track of the slow processing at ISL embassy for IR1/CR1. Wanting to start this thread to share IL/DQ dates, interview tips or questions and spread hope. 😇
  2. Hi everyone, I started this topic to help everyone waiting for her/his physical green card after she/he arrived to the United States So I hope everyone share his OS155A status and post the time between his date of entry, the immigrant fee date, the date you received the physical card in mail. Wish you all the best My status: Poe: Newark May 5 2016 Paid : April 20 2016 USCIS status: payment received on 4/20/2016
  3. Hey everyone, Just filed I-130 and I-130a online and we got a notification of receipt on USCIS that I believe is the NOA 1. Now starts the long wait for NOA2. I hope it's not too long but I know that realistically we're looking at a wait for about a year. Fortunately we're lucky and we've been living together (out of the US) since we've been married, so we won't have to do long distance anymore. It looks like our case was sent to Nebraska which I hear is a fast one? I noticed that there isn't a thread for Nov 2022 filers yet so I figured this one could be it. Stressing out Waiting is more fun when it's done with others who are in the same boat
  4. I was a regular reader of the last London thread to keep myself updated with current timelines etc before it went to 70+ pages and way off topic. I thought it was such a useful resource so I’ve decided to start the ball rolling again so we can keep each other updated on news as it comes in. To kick us off, me and my wife were DQ 10th July so we’re hoping to get our interview appointment email early November. It appears June DQ dates have been scheduled so hoping this is our time after literally years of waiting. Fingers crossed for no Tier 3 lockdown in London!
  5. Hello everyone, I received IR1 VISA when my marriage wasn't two years old yet. I and my spouse got married on August 17 2020 in the USA cause I was here for an internship. I entered the USA on June 28 2022 it wasn't two years old yet but just a month and half away. Now I received my card and it's saying 10 years of validity. I'm asking if it's a mistake if so what should I do? Or what I have to do? Please share your thoughts, opinions, experiences...
  6. I couldn’t find a thread for October 2022 I-130 filers here is my timeline so far Filed: Oct 3, 2022 NOA1: Oct 6, 2022. Guys let's use this post to keep track of our cases. Good luck everyone.
  7. I would like to get my wife coming from Colombia on a CR1 visa setup in the system to be conditionally approved. As quickly as possible because I plan to make a trip back to Colombia a few months after first entry and I would like to be conditionally approved so that when we return she can finish the process. Would I need to wait for the green card to arrive in the mail or is that information I need to register for Global entry located on her CR1 immigrant visa? Or, is the green card number used to register with global entry. Is that generated as the card is being produce or do they take the previous numbers attached to my wife's visa and file and use that as the green card number?
  8. Hi not sure if there’s already a topic here for July 2022 I-130 Filers. My husband got a text notif that USCIS received our forms (CR1) on July 20, still waiting for the letter in the mail though. How long does it usually take to get in the mail? It’s been only a few days but the anxiety is real 😅
  9. We had our Interview at the Bogota Embassy today. My wife's visa status was given "Refusal" and was given the 221g Yellow paper stating that they need a certified raised seal divorce decree. I wasn't thinking and had thought I had a copy of the raised seal and didn't think to check if it was the real one, because I had so much on my plate. They kept my wife's passport. Now, I think I am just overthinking this, but I think it is a good thing that they kept it. I am thinking that once they get that final document that they will immediately issue her the CR1 Visa. My big issue is that I am in Colombia and the divorce decree is in the United States. I don't want to have to fly to Nevada to get it, but if I have to, I just might to get the ball rolling. Has anyone been in a similar situation?
  10. I had the additional documents with me and I showed them to the officer. The officer was happy about them but they asked me to upload them to CEAS and gave me 221g, I then uploaded the documents to CEAC on the spot. Along with the 221g they gave me a form with instructions, the last instruction is to send the original documents to the embassy via DX delivery. Which I did. My questions are: 1- Did I have to do this (send them to the embassy via DX)? since the officer already looked at the original documents in the interview, but they were only concerned that they weren't uploaded? 2- Also, I sent original documents, and I need them for the future, does the US embassy return those documents along with the passport? 3- And if so how long does the US embassy in London usually take to change the status for such scenario from Refused to Issued? Thanks in advance!
  11. Hello members does anyone received interview letter this months at us embassy Casablanca Morocco 🇲🇦
  12. Just found this thread and it has brought me so much joy. I hate sitting in limbo land being unable to plan my life until I know when I can head back to the States. Before finding this thread I wasn’t sure if it would be a 3 month wait or an 8month wait. EB1 I-140 approved end of June, all fees paid, documents and DS-260 submitted around August 22. Not sure how long DQing takes or if being EB1 affects anything, but I’m hoping that I could get an interview scheduled early next year at the London embassy. Not sure if anyone in a similar boat has some insight… Thank you for this thread!
  13. Hello everyone, I am wondering if anyone has received an interview appointment at the Abu Dhabi Embassy after recently getting their DQ. it would be great if someone would share their experience.
  14. So I would like to know how I can tell which processing center the case went to . I found online that the three letters before your receipt number usually indicate the office or service center where your case is being processed. I got IOE which stands for USCIS Electronic Immigration System (ELIS) . How can I check their processing time since I couldn't find it online ? I found 5 different processing centers but none of them mentions the one I got . I would really appreciate your help with this .
  15. Hello house I need your contribution please.. my wife filed cr1 since 2019 and we got married in May 2019, uptil now still waiting for my interview date. The last update they sent to me was on the 7th of December 2021. It said "documentary qualified" they sent me email and said my documents have been approved that I should wait for my interview date.. I have been waiting for my interview date since then.. At this point what should I do ? Can anyone help me out
  16. We already got DQ’d and are waiting for our interview letter. I now remembered my wife and I had previously leased an apartment in Turkey with a residence permit for tourism purpose, and stayed there for 5 months. I’m not sure if i should have added this address for the apartment in the previous addresses section of the DS-260 form. Does this 5 month stay at this apartment count as something I should add? We stayed in Turkey with a residence permit that was applied under tourism. I made a letter for now to have my wife bring it to her interview to show the CO in case we need to update it.
  17. Hello, I have been searching the forums here but have not seen any timelines for 2023 at the Cairo Embassy for CR-1 Visas. What are the waiting times after DQ looking like in 2023? Does anybody know. From what I have seen in 2022 it’s around 5 months. Has it sped up? If anyone has any information on that please let us know.
  18. I am currently filling up the I-130a form . I am a student , and have been doing my bachelor's degree and now my Master's. I don't have an employment history yet other than one internship I did . Should I put that I am a student in the employment area? This is what they said to do " Provide your employment history for the last five years, whether inside or outside the United States. Provide your current employment first. If you are currently unemployed, type or print "Unemployed" in Item Number 1. below. If you need extra space to complete this section, use the space provided in Part 7. Additional Information." It doesn't mention studies anywhere in there. I would really appreciate your help with this . Thank you so much
  19. My wife has her interview scheduled for September 13, which means her 6 month window to enter the USA will expire a few days before our 2nd anniversary, assuming that 6 month window starts from the interview date. Does anyone know if that’s the case or is there a delay in processing a passport as it typically takes awhile to receive it back after the interview from what I’ve read? It is possible to reschedule the interview with cause, but does anybody know how feasible that option is?
  20. Hello all, My spouse received her immigrant visa approval on July 31, 2023 under the CR1 category and we have planned her arrival to the US by September 2023. The consular officer gave my spouse a note about the removal of CR1 status, which had the following text - "If at the time of admission to the United States you will not have celebrated the second anniversary of your marriage, you will be granted conditional permanent residence by an officer of USCIS at the time of your admission to the U.S." Based on this can someone please elaborate, if the immigration officers at the port of entry will no longer consider this to be applicable if my spouse traveled to the US after October 2 (our second marriage anniversary date) and that we would not need to file I-751 for removal of CR status? TIA.
  21. Context: My husband and stepkids are currently scheduled for their interviews at CDJ in Mexico on September 26, and our plan is to have them cross as soon as they get their visas (hopefully a week or two after - early-ish October). Our second wedding anniversary is March 11. We are (like many of us here on VJ) dying to finally live together; plus, getting my stepdaughters enrolled in school and having my husband get a U.S. job sooner rather than later is a major advantage. Could you expand a little on why ROC should be avoided if possible? I've read through this thread and others that it is expensive ($595 x 4 for us - goodie!) and is extremely delayed. I guess my initial reaction is - well, sure, it may be a lot more waiting, but at least we'd be waiting together, living together. It's been hell doing all of this paperwork and paying all of this money, plus the waiting and waiting and waiting, all while living apart. Is the ROC process particularly nerve-wracking? Is there a chance of losing status? Are the chances of getting denied high? All that to say, this thread has me rethinking our plan a little bit. To wait until March would break my heart and crush me, but I'm curious of ROC is bad enough that it would be worth it to wait.
  22. Hello members! My question is simple, say you get your visa sorted out and in hand before the 2-year wedding anniversary mark and you decide to wait until after the anniversary to enter the US. Does that make you illegible for the 10-year green card? Or will you still be given the 2-year conditional green card? Meaning, does the counting start when you get your visa in hand or when you enter American soil? I'd like to thank everyone for taking the time to check this post.
  23. Related question, if the immigrant enter the US before the 2 year mark and receives a 2 year GC, what is the process for switching to a 10 year GC once you pass the anniversary?
  24. Hi there, my wife filed an petition for me last march. We received the NOTICE OF ACTION (Form I-797C) in march, which stated that they received the form and its processing. Later on within a week we received another letter which stated some login credentials for USCIS account and told us to activate the USCIS account. As required, we activated the account. Now I would like to know what's the next step? Its been a couple of months and still we didn't received any update. Please note the priority date is 17th March 2021 and the petitioner is a US citizen and visa type is CR1.
  25. Good afternoon everyone, I recently submitted an I-130 via mail on Dec 2022 for my wife who is living overseas . I recently moved on 17 Jan 2023 . Do I need to update my address as the petitioner ? I tried calling the USCIS number and they provided me with a link. I tried connecting my case online using the receipt number but then it asks me for online access code which I do not have . Since I sent it via mail , will I still receive an online access code ? What should I do in the mean time since USCIS wants you to update your address within 10 days ? Thank you for you time .
