Do you have miles? I booked my one way with miles and it cost $170 total. A one way without miles was costing almost £1000.

A return ticket was costing around £500.

OP, you did not provide the time frame for the needed flight needed or what was chosen for the round trip flight.. Please provide the pertinent data! One way flights can be less expensive depending on the how much time before the flight the reservation is made, time of year the flight is made, the carrier, etc..

I don't believe it.. Prove it to me and I still won't believe it. -Ford Prefect

It depends on the point of sale, which country the sale was made from, that date of travel and about a thousand other factors.

Depends if the airline is pushing one-way tickets on the dates you are looking at or if they are pushing round-trips. It depends if a weekend is included in your dates and so on and so forth.

So the fact that you found that a one -way ticket costs the same as a round-trip for that date, with that airline does not mean that it is the same for every one else.

An open-ended return ticket was pretty much the same cost as a one-way... and it gave my family the security of knowing that if everything went disastrously pear-shaped I could get home again for 12 months! Well worth it even though the return portion was never used.
