Yanukovich was the President before the Orange Revolution in 2004-2005. He was Putin puppet. Ukraine had been a Russian puppet since independence. When they had enough they tried to elect Yushenko president. The election was hugely corrupted by these two smiling gentlemen. There was a general outrage, a rising in the streets, Occupy Wall Street are a bunch of posers compared to Ukrainians scorned! There was an agreement for new elections, then they poisoned Yushenko...didn't work. Yushenko survived and won election. The Orange Revolution was largely supported by the USA and George Bush. Many Yanukovich fans even said it was "Bush's fault"

Ukraine elimnated visitor visas for American and EU citizens. It was possible for me to walk down the street withoutbeing accosted by police for my "papers".

Obama was elected in 2008. By 2010 his neglect of Ukraine, his canceling of contracts to purchase airplanes from Anatov, and his general snubbing of Yushenko and Tymoshenko resulted in Yanukovich's re-election. Tymoshenko is now in prison for what most concede are politcal "crimes". Despite the US and Eu trying to get Ukraine away from Russia....

In September Obam caved in to Putin on Syria. Ukraine now sees what happens to friends of the USA...the Syrian rebels are being slaughtered, they were gassed and no one did anything. Obama is afraid of Putin. Obama spies on his friends in the EU. Do you think Yanukovich wants Obama listening to his cell phone calls?

Who needs friends like the USA? Obama cannot even get a website launched. Ukrainians in internet clubs have already hacked into his dysfunctional site and are stealing American's information. He is the President of a country that produces companies like Amazon...and cannot launch an insurance website!!!!!!!!!!!!! He gives the highest honors in the country to TV talk show hosts. In the Former Soviet Union they give that honor to aircraft designers (Igor Sikorski) and poeple whi did something for the COUNTRY rather than make themselves among the wealthiest people on the planet. And then gripe about a rude salesclerk. Imagine, the hughest honor given to a woman who claims "racism" when the only thing that prevents her from buying a $48,000 purse...is a rude salesclerk.

Good thing Rosa Parks was not so easily deterred.

More like knowing which side your bread is buttered on. Ukraine turns to the west, Russia shuts of the gas (cause Ukraine can't afford market price). There wasn't enough coming back from the EU that could compensate for the Russian sanctions.

IMO, the political divide in Ukraine is close enough that they could swing east or west at any given time. It's mostly going to come down to what have you done for me lately. Looks like Russia has more to offer in that dept.
