I was at my house when a police officer knocked on my door in April 2013 , Officer told me that your friend at this address complained that you have stole jewellery worth of 11000 dollars .

I was surprised I told the officer that I would not do that to him, And surely I did not steal anything from him ,

My friend knew that in March I was eligible to file for my citizenship but for some reason he called police on me and told them that I stole jewelry from his house last time I was at his house,

Anyway I did not file for my naturalization in march but I filed for my naturalization in September because of this reason because I was thinking my friend might take me to court.

In August I went to the Police Dept. I asked them if the case was closed and they said yes it was closed and they gave me police report about that case Which reads like Police officer came to my house to ask me questions and I invited the police officer into my house so he can search , even though he did not had any search warrant for my house but I voluntary let him come to my house because I am innocent. Police officer did not find any jewelry in my house and he went back to Police Dept.

On the papers I received from police Dept. it clearly says how I let police look in my house and also police had the case open for atleast 3 months as the police officer was still looking for jewelry under my name for pawn shops , He contacted the sherrif dept. with my name and they did not find any pawn transactions under my name either.... and this pawn shops search went on for like 3 months I did not know they can also look into pawn shop transactions under my name but they did not find anything under my name.

Police officer did not arrest me and he told me that he was just questioning me .even on a later day I saw that police officer in the street and asked him if I was being detained ? he said no.

So my question is that on N400 form where it asks if I was ever been detained or arrested ? I put NO on the N400.

I just had my finger prints done last in October at biometrics.

When I went to get the paper work from police even the ladie there told me that I was not being detained and I also showed her that I was filing for my naturalization and showed her where it says if I was ever been detained ,,, she said I was not being detained at that time .

You were neither arrested nor detained, so no is the correct answer.

I would also not let the police rummage around my home just because they felt like it; if their case was strong enough they can go and ask a judge for a warrant. You have essentially nothing to gain and everything to lose by voluntarily consenting to a police search of either your person or property.

I did not stole anything from my ex friends house , That's why I was confident to the police officer and I looked in police officers eyes and told him that I have not stole anything from him.

The police report I got from police dept , It says That Police officer tried to look into my name as a pawn transaction from different counties and he did not find anything under my name.

In the end of the report police officer mentions that he tried to contact with my friend several times according to this case to get new leads and was failed everytime , Because my ex friend not answering the calls of police no more. and Last words on the case is like this .

Police officer writes : I am requesting this case closed . I have tried to get in touch with ..... in reference to this case if he makes contact and has any new leads I will request this case to be re-opened.

Police officer did not put hand cuffs on me nor he arrested me nor he took me to his car..

Later I asked him if I was being detained he said no you were not being detained.. I even called few more police officers and told them the situation and they also said in this case you was not being detained.

I called police dept. they told me that this case has not gone to FBI either because I was not arrested of any court orders were placed on me...

I just had Finger prints done for my n400 and will hopefully have an interview soon I don't want the IO telling me hey you was accused of this crime by your friend. While I put NO on N400 where it asks have you ever been detained..

I am worried.

Do you guys think that I should bring these papers with me to the interview incase any questions arises regarding this matter ?

If I was right about putting no on n400 where it asks if I was ever been detained ?

Why do you have friends like that?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Unless you are convicted that may not mean anything. Based on wrong info you may even get arrested but that does not make you a criminal. "Innocent unless proven guilty" and police arrest doesn't mean guilty in any sense unless you are convicted by a court. However I agree with "Hypnos" about not letting the cops get in your home. Being innocent has nothing to do with this, rather the question of civil rights. But that's the challenge with the immigrants, we are way much more fearful (not careful) with the law :-(

Based on what you stated, don't worry and you are all good. Did you go after your friend for slander, harassment and etc :-))

This answer is dead-nuts on. It's surprising and dismaying that any U.S. citizen or citizen-to-be would consent to a search.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
