Ok I guess I was wrong about the holiday season expectations. I checked my email today and this is what I received :

Application Type: N400 , APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION


Your Case Status: Testing and Interview


On December 26, 2013, your N400, APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION was scheduled for interview. You will receive a notice with a time and place for your interview. If you have not received the notice within 30 days of the date the notice is mailed, please call customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for further assistance. If you move, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address

It's funny because I never got placed in-line, I directly got scheduled for interview. I called up USCIS customer service and obtained my interview date. I'm scheduled on January 29th. I will update my info, but I guess I have to skip in-line step and add interview letter later on when I get it. Good luck everyone :)

That is great news... I'm stuck in Initial Review still after biometrics were done 12/5. Called today and go the canned response of "you're still within the processing times blah blah..." But maybe I'll get scheduled some time soon without going "inline" for interview.

You have to count exactly 3 years minus 90 days (not 3 months) from the resident since date on your green card. If you send your appliation early they will send it back. I had a friend who sent his N400 package and it came to USCIS one day early and they sent it back to him, I don't really know why they didn't hold it for one day. Good luck.

I agree. And if you were out of the country for a long enough time that it would disrupt the continuous residence requirement, use the date on which you returned to the US instead of the "resident since" date on your green card as your starting date.

Add 3 years to that date, remove 90 days and just apply after that date.

So if you are a resident since, say, April 1st, 2010, but you were out of the country between June 15th, 2010 and July 2nd, 2011, use July 2nd, 2011 as your starting date, add 3 years, you get July 1st, 2014, then subtract 90 days, you get April 2nd, 2014. Just to be safe, I would not mail in the application before that date, personally.

It might be that your local office is a few days or a week or two later than some local offices - I imagine San Bernardino might be one of the busier offices - but like you, I prefer the proactive approach. good.gif

I just received the call back from USCIS Officer, and she told me that my fingerprints information was received normally and was very pleasant, and also told me that I shouldn't worry. That from what she is looking at, everything is proceeding normally.

So I won't worry then... idea9dv.gif
