Hello :)

My hubby is recently having a lot of worry over the interviews for a greencard, (we are at biometrics and RFE stage) he found this website http://www.ilw.com/articles/2006,0323-ellis.shtm and they listed the main red flags in approving.

including:

1. A very brief courtship followed by a plunge into matrimony;

2. A marriage ceremony arranged only a short time after petitioner arrives in the beneficiary’s country and they meet for the first time;

8. There is little or no documentary evidence of the relationship prior to the actual engagement.

We met online over a year and a half ago, on a penpal website March 2012, we got along very well and we fancied each other but we carried on as good friends. We planned a summer holiday trip in America when i finished the school year and when I got to america June 2013 we got along so well we were inseparable.. long story short after a couple months we got married and then found USCIS and all the wonders on immigration. We do meet these red flags but I dont feel concerned like him, he sees it in the eyes of the interviewer I guess. Any similar stories or interview worries... hopefully with successes

Thanks in advance :) Danica and Allen.

Well if it helps I will tell our story. We met online on a dating site. I actually can't remember informing USCIS of exactly when that was. I visited him for 10 days in April, 3 weeks in May, visited again in June and married 2.5 weeks into that visit, in July.

So I don't think it is an uncommon situation.

My husband & I married when he was here on a vacation about 80 days into his VWP we had no intention to get married but I convinced him & we have now been happily married over 4 years, we adjusted status from VWP & had no problems at all but we had known each other a while & it was very obvious we had a real marriage. VJ has been there all the way for us it is really good. If you have a real marriage & entered with no intention to marry you will be fine.

Don't get caught up in the paranoia, you should be fine to AOS. Make sure you have as much proof as possible of a bonafide relationship, joint bank accounts, insurance, credit cards, wedding pictures and cards from family members, etc. If you have saved e-mails from your relationship prior to marriage, that works too. Also phone call records will be helpful. Make sure to take pics and document everything you can from now til your interview.

Good Luck!

We had similar red flags so here's my 2 cents from my experience:

1. If you haven't done so ,open a joint checking account.And not just open it and bring a statement with both your names on it. Make sure you both use it.Use it a lot,the both of you.Save proofs you both use it as in deposits and withdrawals/debits.Save receipts if you guys are buying appliances like dressers or beds . The attorney we consulted told us USCIS has become very picky with bank statements.

2. If the wedding ceremony was small like just the 2 of you then affidavits from friends and family that are USC or LPR attesting to the bonafides of your marriage will help .

3. The atty advised us that if the IO keeps questioning the bonafides of your marriage then USC can be more assertive like tell em how crazy you are about your loved one and how you wanna spend your life with them.
