Does your visa state along the bottom "Upon endorsement serves as temporary I-551 evidencing permanent residence for 1 year"?

If so, that acts as a temporary green card (thus allowing you to travel).

I'm not familiar with what the visas look like for IR-5s, so it's possible that it does not say anything like that. If not, you need to wait for your GC.

* I-130/CR-1 visa by Direct Consular Filing in London
3rd May 2013 - Married in London

7th May 2013 - I-130 filed
4th June 2013 - NOA2 (approved)
16th July 2013 - Interview (approved)
30th July 2013 - POE San Francisco
29th August 2013 - 2 year green card arrived

* How? Read my DCF London I-130 for CR1/IR1 Spouse Guide

* Removal of Conditions (RoC) via California Service Centre
1st May 2015 - 90 day RoC window opened
6th May 2015 - I-751 filed (delivered 8th May, cheque cashed 18th May)
7th August 2015 - Approved / GC production

27th August 2015 - 10 year green card arrived

* Naturalisation (Citizenship) via Phoenix Lockbox

* San Francisco Field Office:
1st May 2016 - N-400 window opened
20th August 2016 - N-400 filed

26th August 2016 - NOA1
13th September 2016 - Biometrics

12th January 2017 - Biometrics (again)
30th May 2017 - Interview (approved)
7th June 2017 - Oath

Okay correct answer (same as lost at sea)

If the visa says at the bottom "Upon endorsement serves as temporary I-551 evidencing permanent residence for 1 year" then that visa in the passport serves as a temporary green card when it's stamped at the POE. That means it is a green card for a year. You can leave it's okay. Just make sure to spend more time in the USA than out of it. Remember a green card is for permanent residents, not so you can visit easily.

Nope i wouldn't take a chance to go anywhere until you get your green card.

These are all wrong. The OP entered the U.S. on an immigrant visa. Almost always, immigrant visas become I-551 once stamped on entry. It functions equivalently to a physical I-551 (green card) in every way.

Read the bold type above... almost always. I personally would not take any chances. But that's just me. Very conservative, not wanting to take any unecessary chances.
