Hi all,

Me and my fiancee (US citizen) are about done getting everything together for our inital K-1 visa application by filing the I-129f. Before we did I wanted to get some sage wisdom from folks on here. I am going to list what we have and if anyone thinks we are miising anything please don't hesitate to point it out!

-Cover Letter explaining contents of pack

-Envelope marked 'I-129f pack' containing:

  • Payment of $340 made out to USCIS
  • I-129f form
  • I-129f supplement explaining our meeting and brief relationship history
  • G-325a and 2 US sized passport photos (petitioner)
  • G-325a and 2 US sized passport photos (beneficiary)
  • Copies of US naturalization certificate and US passport of petitioner)
  • Letter certifying intent to marry (petitioner)
  • Letter certifying intent to marry (beneficiary)
  • G-1145 form

- Envelope marked 'Proof of having met in person in past two years' containing:

  • Recent photograph (May 2013) of me and my fiancee together in NYC
  • Boarding pass from recent flights to and from NYC (10th May outward, 19th May return)
  • Copy of my British passport with pages with US boarder entry stamps highlighted

-Envelope marked 'Proof of on-going relationship' containing:

  • Coach passes for both of us for trips to see my parents when she lived in London 2010 - 2011
  • Photos of us together (x6) taken over the past 3 years with date and location written on back
  • Email receipt for engagement ring I bought her
  • Email receipts for flights taken by myself over the past two years to visit her in NYC (8 in total)

We have 3 exact copies of this pack, one we will send off to the Dallas, TX, USCIS address, one she will keep with her in NYC and one will stay with me in London.

Does this seem alright? If I should have anything else please please let me know! I am going to visit her in 2 days and she will mail it when I leave the US on September 4th.

2. Make the check or money order payable to U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

NOTE: Spell out U.S. Department of Homeland Security; do not use the initials "USDHS" or "DHS."

3 exact copies are not needed unless you both just want one to look at.

I would not separate things into envelopes, but hey, it's your choice.

Good luck with everything.

Thanks for pointing this out!

The extra packs are really just for us to refer to and give us a piece of mind.

Out of curiosity, what problems do you think might occur if I pack the forms in envelopes as I have done? I just thought it seemed like an effective way of organizing the pack.

No problems really, unless they overlook one or something. The mailroom contractors will tear them open and throw them away, so USCIS employees won't see them and give you points for organization. I would suggest a bulldog clip or big paper clip if you feel the need to separate. Your submission will be shuffled and reorganized and put in a folder before it goes to a USCIS Service Center.

Forgive my cut and dried suggestions. I've been through the whole deal and have kinda figured out the meat and potatoes of immigration and skip the extraneous stuff. I even quit doing cover letters at some point. I am certain they get thrown away in most cases. You submission looks like good meat and potatoes without adding whipped cream, nuts, chocolate syrup, and cherries on top like so many do. Keep calm and carry on. :P

I don't know if this is just me being super ####### but have you included your names on the backs of all photos? It does say that name, date and location should be written on the backs of all photos. that's literally the only thing I can think off! good luck!

Just to get clarification on this post since I'm getting ready to file myself, are two passport-style photos needed for each the petitioner and the beneficiary? I thought one for each would be suficient?

Hi,

It probably is sufficient, but I read on here somewhere that someones application had been delayed because the service centre requested 2 passport photos of each the beneficiary and petitioner. There are probably other circumstances I am not aware of that led to this, but I thought for the sake of an extra passport photo each it was not worth taking the risk, so we are adding two of each.

You are correct. It asks for 1 of each person. Later photos he will need:

1-Medical

2-Embassy London

2-AOS greencard

2-EAD work

2-AP travel

Nich-Nick is absolutely right... and has saved many of us (myself included!) a lot of stress.

I did write the names on the back of the photos. I followed the guide to the last letter. I did not put forms in separate folders; I just used one big bulldog clip, with divider tabs (which I'm sure they probably tossed later).

Good luck to you!!

Yes, only 1 each is required with the I-129F petition.
