I have worked in the offshore oil industry for 23 years. Since I work on a 7 day on / 7 day off shift schedule...I have actually lived on the ocean for more than 10 years of my life.

Not many people can say they have lived on the sea for 10+ years.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

This has been fun to read..

Once I open a package of something like cookies, pasta, flower, sugar, cereal, etc, I can't leave it opened in my kitchen cabinets, it has to go to something transparent (and of course closed) so I can see it (inspect it) before using it again. I don't stop having WOWs when I open the kitchen cabinets in front of somebody else.... and yes hmmmm I am a Virgo.

My oddity:

I hate buttons on blouses. I have no idea why. I have been that way since I was a kid. If I HAVE to wear a button down blouse ( like when I was in the military in service dress), I felt really lousey and kind of twitchy until I took it off  . There is not one button down blouse in my closet. All my suit blouses are wrap or cami style-anything but buttons.

Ditto with the buttons...and zippers, and anything else but something that pulls over my head.

OMG! You hate buttons too????? :D I thought I was the only one. My family and friends think it's weird. Thx for posting!

eta-yeh the zipper thing. I hate wearing zipper fleeces because zipper does not lie flat, and kind of bunches when you zip it into "hills" that I have to keep straightening....

oh, also seeing people's VPL really bugs me for some reason too.

I'm uncomfortable in a blazer or jacket. I feel like I can't breathe or move around freely. It feels so confining that I find I'm really not productive. Hence I don't own any womens suits. My 'professional' look consists of loads of black trousers and skirts with camisoles and little sweaters for the 'top' layer.

I've been to 30+ countries. Some in the Navy and some as a civilian.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

 I separate each colour in an M&M's bag...and if there are an uneven number of any certain colour, I'll go ahead pop the uneven amount in my mouth to make it even again. Then I'll either line them up or group them by colours. Yeah I know...Joel laughs at me too. I don't know WHY I do this...I've always done it though.

BTW, my toes are normal, although small (like my feet)

Here is a bonus: My husband's eyes change colour . . sometimes they are hazel, sometimes they are green and sometimes they are blue/grey. And no - he doesn't wear contacts!

Most of my family, including myself, has that kind of eye color. People often comment on it, so it's like having naturally blond hair.

I took algebra eight times and never passed. I have discalclea. There's hope for you yet. I have a Ph.D.

I've visited all seven continents, and have been to the arctic circle three times.

I can speak Algonquin.

I can clap with one hand.

At the end of each year, I throw out all my underwear and buy new ones.
