Well I'm German and it worked just fine! Happily married through K1! I actually haven't heard of anyone from Germany being denied.

This website is best for infos, checklists, etc....

If you want "Germans" amerika-forum.de has infos and threads. I found it helpful for any question concerning leaving Germany, insurances, retirement funds etc etc since its obviously different in every country.

Best of luck and hopefully and quick journey!

And to that Lawyer....tell him to go learn his facts before scaring people to death!

I am German. Naturalized many moons ago. No prejudice against Germans here.
Perhaps your guy really does not want to live here ;) or there was another reason that the lawyer thought there were some red flags from their conversation.

No immigration lawyer would say Germans won't be able to immigrate here, not even drunk at the wrong bar !
I think he met a wannabe lawyer.

I am a german and my Love is from the US.

Ive never heard of such a case in Germany. In fact, Ive been in contact with a lotta german people that moved to the US via K1 Visa. One good example would be my Aunt, now living in California.

Dont worry. There wont be any problems at all!

Good Luck from germany.

Im from Bavaria btw. No Lederhosen for me tho.

I've never heard of a major problem with any European country, but in case you want to see something more definite, I just filtered this to show Germany only so you can see what's actually happening, at least with members of this site...if they were all getting denied, I'm sure there'd have been something posted about it.

http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/k1list.php?cfl=0&op1=5&op2=d&op3=1&op4=1&op5=5,6,8,10,11,13,14,15,16,17,18,20,21,22,25,26,27,28,108,110,111,208,210,211&op6=All&op7=Germany&dfile=No&adv=

Couple things. From she who works with lawyers all day.

1. All lawyers are not versed in all areas of the law. For example, ones I work with do mostly corporate. They're not experts in say, personal injury or immigration or family law. Last time they saw any of that was law school.

2. On a cruise ship, hate to say it, but you can say you're whatever to make yourself feel more important. Perhaps this guy was just one of those special cases and he wanted to feel important.

3. Germany? You're fine. Keep calm and file on my friend :) best of luck!!!

I was going to say exactly what Harpa said!! I don't know why we would give visas to the Middle East, and deny those from Germany. That lawyer doesn't have a clue what he is talking about.

You should fire that lawyer and not waste one single more dime on him! I can't believe how incompetent some people are who call themselves "lawyers", scaring clients like that. Just awful. I am a German citizen, went through the K1 procedure last year and had no problems whatsoever.

As for the German thread: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/272767-german-peopleruhrt-euch/page-74 Feel free to drop by and say hello :)

By the way, if your case is straightforward, you really don't need a lawyer. Just read the instructions thoroughly and save the money for the wedding and honeymoon. Good luck!

Oh, I misread your thread... you did not hire that person, your fiancé just happened to run into him on a cruise ship. Well... maybe the waves made him feel drunk, so he didn't know what he was saying! OMG how pathetic.
