is this a one year, one use visa?

or is it multi-year, multi-use ?

if multi-year, i suggest they leave on time, and come back for usa christmas holiday,

returning (with you and yer wife and child) 3 days before china new years starts.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

my other ? is do i have to pay the one time fee or do i have to pay for both of them...since thier both on the same extension app do I just pay the one fee of 290 cash???

Each have their own respective visitor visas. They are not connected in any ways.

Two extensions. Two fees.

You cannot use the same extension application for both parents.

You do not do anything.

It is there visas, not yours.

Pay the one fee, let us know how that works.

ok - so they have a one year, multi-entry visa.

Remember - the expiration date on the visa is the last date they can enter the USA.

Would it make more sense for them to leave on time, then return 2 days prior to the expiration date? If they did that, IMO, they'd have another 6 months on a new I-94 (which is the document that governs their legal 'time in usa' )

so, really, if they took my approach, they'd really have 18 months , instead of just the one year. the last date on the visa is the last date to enter the USA and doesn't govern duration of the last stay - it's the I-94 that governs their duration of stay.

They could see Niagra Falls from the US side and avoid the hassle of a Canadian Visa.

we are getting them one so we can see Niagra falls...but seems someone said it doesnt reset the clock

If it did, everyone would take a day trip to Niagara and end up being able to spend 364 days in the US, that wouldn't work would it?

no, alas, sorry, no.

tripping into Canada or Mexico and coming back does not get a new I-94 made. It's a special benefit of NAFTA, changed the immigration 'laws' for those holding tourist visas.

we are getting them one so we can see Niagra falls...but seems someone said it doesnt reset the clock

whoever that someone was? They belong in a special group of 'those in the know'.
