On the site, my case status says "Ready for interview," but has an updated date of the actual interview date. It doesn't say AP or anything of the like.

However, it's unfortunate but likely that being in a middle eastern country, your fiance will encounter mandatory AP, from what I've read.

Thank you, yeah I know its unfortunate that we are most likely looking at an AP.... But i'm praying that it won't be for too long... :)

So, now comes the fun part! REUNION!

How soon do you think your family will be emigrating from Mongolia?

I can't tell you how fun it will be to share all those firsts when they get here! Remember how exotic your first stay in the developing world or Mongolia seemed? So it will be for them arriving here!

We returned to the states in late May and the green trees and grass were a hit!

So, now comes the fun part! REUNION!

How soon do you think your family will be emigrating from Mongolia?

We returned to the states in late May and the green trees and grass were a hit!

Reunion and showing them the U.S. (and having them eat Mexican food that wasn't made by me) are all things that I am seriously looking forward to! I honestly can't wait... there are so many things I want to show my fiancee, and so many things I want to show the kids... since I live in L.A., I think seeing the ocean in person for the first time will blow their minds.

Unfortunately, there is a lot of stuff that needs to be taken care of. My future stepson should be out of the hospital at the end of this month, but my fiancee and her kids have been looking after a recently paralyzed relative, and a new situation for him needs to be figured out. She's hoping to have that sorted out next week. The ideal time for them to come would be late July/early August, but the tickets are much more expensive then, so I'm looking at June 26th as the most likely arrival day if she can somehow get everything taken care of in a month. If not, we may need to wait until September when the tickets are priced reasonably.

I have dreamed every day about picking them up at the airport. The fact that it will soon be a reality is just absolutely mindblowing to me. We were apart for three months before, and the reunion when I returned to Mongolia was absolutely intense. She cried, I cried, and the kids, who are usually tough, cried the most, all because we were so happy to see each other after being apart for three months. The last time I've seen them is August of last year, and I am sure our reactions to seeing each other again will draw all sorts of strange looks from the people at LAX.

I have been spending my time finding the best day to fly, but once that's decided, I'm planning to make a list of things I want to show them. I work from 9-6, so I'll probably take a week or a week and a half off to get them settled... there's so little time and so much to see and do, not to mention actually getting married and starting adoption procedures.

An update: my fiancee turned in her medical report on Monday. They took it, but refused to take her passport. We were very confused.

I called and emailed the embassy, and didn't hear anything back from them.

Until just now... they told me that she should have dropped off her passport with her medical results (she tried to...) They then told me that she should drop off her passport today, before 4pm, Mongolian time, and that they are proceeding with the printing of the visa. Big relief! I'm hoping to have the kids' interview next Wednesday, and for them to fly out here around the 21st, when the tickets are cheap. Let's all hope that it works out!

Now, the issue is finding an affordable apartment in a good area near my work willing to take six people... it has not been easy so far.

Hearty thanks!

The wait is killing me, but all of the unfinished business is killing me even more!

The 21st depends on the embassy being kind enough to schedule the kids' interview next week, so I'll update again when I find out.

The kids can't interview until the 26th, so plans of going on the 21st are off. However, they said that if the kids interview on the 26th and it goes well (I can't see why it wouldn't) they can get the visas on the 28th, so I can fly them out here on the 29th or 30th. I'll update again when I know.

Just too bad... I have to pay about $1500 more for flights now.
