we got approved (NOA2) on May 3. Still waiting for case number. husband called USCIS and NVC many many times. Finally he was told they couldn't find our file crying.gifranting33va.gifranting33va.gifranting33va.gif

So he had to scan the hard copy NOA2 we got in the mail and emailed it to them. He also wrote to the congressman. Let's see how long this is gonna take. I'm really worried as I'm hoping to have everything done by end of June, but God knows how long it will take. It's stupid how they mess up and caused us a looooong wait.

you can do one or all of three things

1. wait

2. infopass

3. contact everyone you can from your congressman onwards

cases have been sitting at local offices after approval for up to 3 months

they have been tagged nrc

who knows why.. but I would start going through the steps now

i was approved on april 19.. never made it to nvc.. filed all the research and help requests.. found the file myself.. finally got it out of the office and arrived at nvc on june 7

start making some noise!

Hi,

We just received our I-797 NOA "Approval Notice" for the I-130.

The wording is very confusing because it states that "the person for whom you are petitioning is in the US and will apply for adjustment of status". This is not the case and I can't even imagine how any confusion may have occurred. SO, I'm assuming that these I-797 are more or less form letters - and that everyone's say the same thing. Is this correct???

It then goes on to say that "If the person for whom you are petition decides to apply for an immigrant visa outside the US based on the petition" (yes, that's us) that we need to complete form I-864 to essentially request that the petition be sent to the NVC. From everything that I've read on THIS site, forwarding of the petition is SUPPOSED to be automatic, no? Although I do see that a lot of you are experiencing problems with that actually happening (sorry).

Did any of your NOA2s have

1) Wording that didn't really apply to your situation (such as what I've stated above - about being in the country when it's obviously not the case)? or

2) Instructions to file I-864 in order to have your petition forwarded?

Thank you for help. This is THE most frustrating process I've ever had to deal with. Finding this website to help guide me through this has been the one bright light...

Hi everyone

My husband spoke to an IO when he called last Monday. He put a request to 'find' the file, expressed his sympathies and said just be patient since they're backlogged :(

I called NVC June 11 and ask if there's anything else w could do since ew wrote to the congressman and got a reply telling us to wait 10 days or something so they can respond. The lady, KC, said to wait, then I mentioned our packet was missing. She then said they received it yesterday, June 10!!!

We got our case number but not our IIn. The CSR won't give it to us and said we'd get it in the email once the bill's been generated.

Should we wait for it? She said it could take a week or two, she has no exact time frame.

Hope you'll get your case numbers soon!

have you confirmed your file is at the local office

you can only do this if you have an infopass

if you are able to get to the office and confirm it's there, you will be able to generate a service request immediately (happened to me, but I had to be aggressive about it)

but really if you do get to the office, get the 130 supervisor to come out and don't leave until they have an answer as to the exact date your file gets out of there

Ok, so here's an odd thing.... I talked to USCIS tier 2 this morning, and they said that my case hadn't been sent to NVC because it's still being reviewed in AP.

I thought AP happened at the NVC? is this BS?

Got a response from the Senator's office regarding the NVC research:

I received an email from the NVC today with an update on your fiancé’s application. As of yesterday, the NVC researched the application with the CIS’s California Service center and have requested the A-File from the National Records Center for review. If your fiancé’s I-129F petition is contained in the A-file, it will be forwarded to the NVC for immediate processing. Our office will be notified once the California Service Center completes their review for this file. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

I had a few questions, of course:

  1. "requested the A-File from the National Records Center for review" is the A-file a separate document from the I-129F packet?
  2. Does this mean that the file was at the NRC this whole time, instead of the CSC?
  3. Any idea the time frame for it to get from the NRC to the CSC?
  4. What does the CSC need to review? Will they extend the expiration date?
  5. will it be expedited from here on out?
  6. When it gets sent from the CSC, will you get a tracking number?

UPDATE..After 63 days of waiting ..I called NVC today and they confirmed our petition finally arrived monday..hamdolilah..i hope you all hear good news soon inshallah

That is good news, hopefully will move along quickly now!

Does anyone know what that means?

My husband got a call from his congressman yesterday to ask him some questions about our application. Said they'd get back to him on Monday.

Hopefully we'll know what's going on soon.
