Don't worry! You don't really need to know, but it's helpful if you want to have an idea of how long your case is going to take to process, or be a bit more hands on. The cases go to NBC first, and once there they usually sit around for a couple of weeks (somewhere between six and eight, as an estimation) before getting shipped out to the local offices. If you can find out when and where you case got shipped to from NBC, you can get in contact with that local office to find out a bit more about the workload they have there, how long it should take, etc etc. Plus, sometimes it takes a while for the cases to get shipped to NVC after you get your NOA2, and if you know where the case was adjudicated you can call them to verify exactly when they sent it to NVC.

But since you just sent your case in last month, I wouldn't worry. Maybe get your hubby to call in mid-June to see if it's been transferred yet. smile.pnggood.gif

One more question which you might know the answer to (thanks in advance if you do!) if we don't call to check on which local office our case is shipped to, will the tracking page on the USCIS website update, or will it just continue to say "initial review"? Or will my hubby (the petitioner) get a text/email to say it's been moved to a local office? Thanks!

They don't let you know when it gets transferred to a local office, it'll just keep showing what it currently shows. You have to call in order to find out if it got transferred or not.

Also, when you call to find out, you have to ask to speak to a Tier 2 rep in order to get that information. The first people you talk to on the phone after waiting on hold don't have access to that information, and will just tell you it's still at NBC, even if it's really not.

Is the USC abroad with you, or living in the US? If the USC is abroad, the petition will stay at NBC for processing, as long as you put the foreign address on the I-130, and you should hear something soon. If you put an American address on the petition, you still have a ways to go insofar as waiting goes.

Hello fellow April filers,

I have some good news to share just to encourage others out there. Our I-130 petition has been approved – my husband received an email today saying an approval notice has been mailed to our home address! We are over the moon, feel so very very lucky and thank God for such a speedy process because we know so many out there have been waiting for months on end for their approval - Direct Filing does work faster after all! smile.png

Interestingly, we did not receive an nao1 notice...maybe because my husband had made an appointment at the embassy to hand deliver it perhaps? We had dead silence for 36 days wondering what in the world was going on, and then the magic email appeared today!

I’m a bit confused by the fact that the email didn’t have a case number or anything on it. I guess that will be on the letter that the local Immigrant Visa Section (apparently it will explain the next steps) is sending us. Will update as we journey on...

Good luck to us all on this journey!

Wow two April filers onto NOA2 already? I hope we're soon then! I don't even know which local office our file has gone to (was going to wait until mid-June till we started phoning).
