what is ambulance chaser?????

http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/ambulance_chaser

An unethical attorney who solicits business at the scenes of accidents or in hospitals, in exchange for a percentage of the damages that will be recovered in the case.

Etymology

The orgins of this phrase dates from 1897, from newspaper articles about attorneys seeking clients through targeted mail solicitation. "Ambulance chasing" was one of the descriptive phrases employed by the media for this activity. It later became a derogatory term for direct advertising.

-----

It's a not very nice way to describe someone who chases money at the expense of other people's pain.

i agree....robiesperre said it best after the french revolution..' kill all the lawyers..kill them tonight"

Did robiesperre speak to the idiots who come through my office door and wish to hire me to sue someone? How about 'kill all the idiots . . .kill them all tonight". Without the idiots to hire the lawyers, there is no problem.

AnyaD,

Watch out for the sudden "hurt neck" syndrome.

Remember the movie "Anger Management", where Jack Nicholson feigned a hurt neck to win the case, then after he emerged from the courthouse, he was doing "neck cracking" exercises? Amusing in the movies, not in reality. People pull this ####### everyday, in an attempt to defraud your insurance company out of $$$.

Yet another fundamental problem with our legal system and the unethical attorney willingness to exploit it.

CYA, in case of trouble.

Consult with your attorney, if you have one.

You got that right.. The only decent lawyers are the state / government lawyers who are actually trying to send criminals to jail..

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

This reminded me of a radio call in talk show I heard when the guest was a lawyer who was answering general law questions. One caller said he had slipped on the ice on his front step and wanted to know if he could sue himself so his homeowner's insurance would cover the medical bills! Honest to God - some people! (The lawyer said no).

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Thanks for the heads up  Unfortunately they already claim more injuries ;) well.. It can be real ( as some one told me the injuries came like a week after the accident.. but me and Bram didnt get any) coz at the accident it was just 18 stiched at the head or somthing like that and now.. all 4 of them have several kind of injuries.. oh and at the accident we actually heard there are only 2 of them but soon after they told the insurance there was 4... may be we were mistaken at the time.. I dont know.. it was a chaos.. so they might be telling some truth.. I dont know.. i actually want to give them benefit of the doubt in case it is true though.. I feel bad and sorry for them BUT i know it's not my fault.. it really is an accident.

And Thank you all for the concern... The insurance assign us a lawyer already.. Bram is goign to talk to him  ... ohh.. i have a great hubby :luv:

I remember the accident and seeing the pictures...it was raining, the roads were slick and the visibility low. I'm sorry that you've got to go through this.

I recently struck some debris on the freeway and it tore my front tire to shreds. A highway patrolmen stopped and helped me change the tire. He said he could file a report but then he'd have to cite me because he said I'm suppose to adjust me speed to allow for avoiding stricking something on the road! He was just telling me how the law looks at it, unfortunately. :(

umm.. that's what the insurance said.. half of our car was sitiing (not moving) in the road and others car manage to pass - and slow down to passed us...I dont know.... I just let my insurance to deal with this (F)

my husband just called..

we got a nice visit from a sheriff to give us the law suit paper.. oh boy.. we got like 6(times 2 for the copy to me and my husband seperately) copies of them from FEDEX, Post office, phone call.... Sheriff!!! they just really want us to know eh? wondering how else they gonna send us ;)
