In AP for 16 months :o It means that they don't want to approve your visa. Your visa is not coming. Get your passport back.

USCIS I-130 Petition for Spouse

September 2012: Filed from abroad to Chicago Lockbox

4 days later: NOA1, Routed to California Service Center

7 days later: Transferred because of new jurisdiction

5 days later: Case Status changed to: Under processing at USCIS office

NOA2 arrived 78 days after NOA1 :)

*I-130 Approval Notice hardcopy finally received in Pakistan, the only notice that arrived.

This advice is wrong. I know a man that was in AP for 4 years and he just got his visa.

You can ask for your passport back so you can travel. It will not hurt your case if you get it back. When the embassy is ready to issue your visa they will ask for it again.

But that's very rare. Most cases that are going through a long AP are never approved. They never get visas ! There's no such thing like 16 months AP and then visa came. It is rare  The maximum AP time is 6 months. That's it ! :innocent:

Sajidla you should get a job in Pakistan and bring your wife here. Live together with for a year or so an then reapply. that's the only option to overcome red flags that your case has.

Good Luck

Oh, no! Yahoo Answers is back :bonk::bonk: :bonk: .

Your "advice" is pure dog s**t. You have not one iota of a clue of what you are talking about and just wait until your case is languishing in AP. Then how will you feel? Give up that easily? Then maybe you're better off in Pakistan. I have a friend in real life, not on visa journey, whose husband got his visa after 2 years of AP. And they know dozens of Pakistan couples whose visas were approved after a long wait.

As for the OP's actual QUESTION, yes you can email them why you need your passport back and how you should mail it back to them when you are done using it. 16 months without a passport is a long time and they know that.

one personal attack removed.

same member is dangerously close to admin action.

if you do not know the answer, don't post rather than having your "advice" proven to be wrong.
