For me they read the entire application, confirming the answers. She read my addresses and asked to confirm. Some questions she read out, some she asked me to answer again. Some she asked then checked off 3 in a row. I also had asked to change my name but she convinced me it was too much paperwork and I realize I've had enough paperwork!!! Hope this helps.

Congrats for your approval !!!

Thank you so much for your help !!!!

Good news! They never rejected my application and they never sent an RFE or yellow letter. I thought others in my position might want to know the outcome.

In fact, today was my interview and I'm approved! Oath ceremony is June 28th. Thank you to all for your support, congrats to people approved and good luck to those still waiting.

I brought originals and copies of everything, GC, all passports and everything I missed.. Eventually she asked for all of them for the file. She noted all my evidence for relationship and asked why we file taxes separate. I explained about it and it was fine. I also accidentally included an insurance for cars with my last year address but a note was made after asking is that my old address and confirming where I love now. I was asked 6 of the easy questions and also to read aloud 'Who can vote' and write 'Citizens can vote'.

At the end she stamped approved but said its not quite done. I waited for a second person to review and he gave me my oath ceremony form to be filled out the night before and dated the day of. He also returned some original documents from my file to me from way back! One was my long form birth certificate! Then shook my hand congratulations!

It was a great process. Only issue was I had flown in a private plane back in the '90's across the border a few times and they asked if I was a pilot. Then asked the pilots name. She tried to see if my passport was stamped for the crossings but I didn't have that old passport anymore. If I knew it caused flags I may have not done it. Maybe people will think about it twice if they hear this.

So please update the list!!! Thanks!

Excellent news to find out they'll just ask at the interview instead smile.png CONGRATULATIONS!!

Out of interest, what's the Oath Ceremony form? This is the first time I've read about it.

YAY almost done biggrin.png

They gave me a letter that says what date and place to be at for the ceremony. On the back are a number of questions similar to what you've already answered. He said to fill it out the night before the ceremony in regards to the time period between the interview and the oath ceremony.

Example: have you been married, divorced etc?

Have you travelled outside of the US. (He told me if yes write in the particulars by the question )

Have you committed an offense?

Have you been arrested?

Have you joined an organization (like communist party)

Basically asking the N400 questions again so it's up to date for the oath.

He said fill it in night before so there is no holdup on the day of but put the date for signing as the ceremony date.

Dress up, no shorts, flip flops etc.

The form is N-445: Notice of Naturalization Oath Ceremony.

Can't wait!!!!

Had my interview today. It took about 20 mnts. Everything went smoothly. Passed the English and history test. Officer asked a bunch of questions about my travels abroad as I travelled for extended periods of time. She then gave me the paper of "decision can't be made".

My status online changed few hours after the interview. USCIS now asks for more evidence. I will wait to see what kind of evidence they are asking for. I had a thick file of evidence during the interview. The officer didnt ask to look at.

I have a bunch of gaps in my case so I am not really surprised that I didnt get approved today!

Congrats for those who passed and good luck to those waiting for the interview!

If you can't change your mind, are you sure you still have one?

Hello Mandixon.

Can you elaborate a bit on the bunch of gaps that you have? Is travelling abroad a gap? I thought it depends on the foreign countries visited?

Hello Mandixon.

Can you elaborate a bit on the bunch of gaps that you have? Is travelling abroad a gap? I thought it depends on the foreign countries visited?

Well, if you havent been away from the states for more than 6 months, you generally wont have any issues. I was away for more than 6 months twice in the past 5 years. I applied as a spouse of a USC and I still have two long absences during the past 3 years. One absence was 11 months+ and one absence of 5 months +. The officer wanted to make sure that I didnt interrupt my residence. My physical presence in the US meets the requirements but my continuous residency doesnt.

Yes, it might be an issue if you travel to some "blacklisted" countries, such as; Iran and North Korea, but it will also depend on your justification for the travel. However, when USCIS examines your travel pattern, they look at the number of days out, the reasons for the travels, and the ties you kept to USA during those travels. After 6 months of absence from USA, it is your responsibility to demonstrate that you kept your ties to USA (lease, morgage payment, bank account, credit card, insurance, property in your name, driver's lisence, a job, filing income tax etc etc).

I hope I have explained the situation better.

If you can't change your mind, are you sure you still have one?

Reporting in from my interview this morning. Got to the office about a half hour early (FYI for future applicants who have to go to the S.F. field office: There're a few pay parking lots and a garage very nearby, so no worries there.) and went through security screening, which went very quickly. The security guards were all very friendly and professional. Went upstairs and handed over my letter. Waited about 20 minutes and was called in almost exactly at my appointment time. The officer ( Elizabeth Chen - also very nice) took me into her office and gave me the oath before I sat down. We then went through my application. I had misplaced my prior passport and didn't find it until a couple of days ago, so I told her I had given my best guesses on a few trips, but she was only really concerned with the past 5 years and didn't even look at my passports. Same with a couple of tickets I got back in the stone age and forgot to put on my application ( She just cared about the past 5 years). We then moved on to the civics questions and the reading and writing. I was expecting to have to wait for a decision, but she congratulated me, told me I was approved, was I available for the oath ceremony on June 11, and did I want to have them mail me my letter or did I mind waiting 15 minutes for them to print it? (ummm, YES, and I'll wait!!!!). Long and short of it, very smooth process with really nice people and, I was in and out of the building in a little under an hour, and I'll be a U.S.C. On June 11! Yay!!! I can't seem to wipe the grin off my face. Congratulations to those who have passed and good luck to those still waiting.

Timeline

Congrats to you GoNiners... It's not easy going through all these process. My interver will be in couple of weeks and I can't wait though I'm a little scared.
