My fiancee interviewed on 1-28-2013 in Manila and she passed the interview !! she should have her visa in hand in 5-10 days they told her.

before we knew about the interview I had bought tickets to fly there on February 25, and stay till 3/19. now that she is approved and should have her visa in hand in a few days, i would like to shorten the length of my stay and buy her ticket to return with me on 3/07.

should i go ahead and buy her ticket?? or wait until she has her visa in hand before making any changes? what's the chances of something going wrong? wait or buy now?

also she just noticed that i entered her phone number wrong on her DS form that she filed with the Embassy during her interview,,oopppsss! is there anything we should and can do about the wrong phone number? could it be a problem?

thanks everyone, we are so excited that we will be together soon!

I know you're excited but its not much longer. I heard a couple stories about couriers opening the "do not open" packages, some having misspelled names, or wrong dates. They're very rare considering the number issued so don't worry. Just be patient a hair longer.

Congratulations! :)

I also think you should book the ticket when she has the visa in hand, a week or so shouldn't affect prices much.

Additionally, it's just my personal opinion, but why not stay until 3/19 as you had originally planned? I know both of you must be really excited about getting her to the US, but I'm sure she will also be missing her family and friends here a lot, so why not just hold it off a little bit longer? It could also save you flight cancellation/modification costs if you just get her a one-way ticket on 3/19 with the same flights as yours.

Good luck!! good.gif

I am (usually) the beneficiary.

I say make the decision tomorrow.

For today, though - call the DoS Hotline and inquire for casefile status.

If the DoS Hotline says 'visa approved' - you might be ok on your travel plans.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

The phone number is important. They send text messages when the visa is ready for pick-up or delivery. But they send e-mail too so make sure she checks her email regularly.

If she chose to have the visa delivered, she can leave an authorization letter if she cannot be home to receive the visa herself.

I received my visa 6 days after interview. Good luck! :)

Do not rush anything till visa in hand and ready for CFO sticker! Crazy stuff happens and delivery times are all over the place, location, weekends or Filipino time. She needs time to get things in order also.
