We sent our package Jan 28th, got text of receipt number (MSCxxxxx) Feb 2nd, and today when I checked on USCIS our case number shows as 'Initial Review'. Still waiting on the NOA1 snail mail letter.

Not sure if our case has been forwarded to local field office, but if it does, its going to be Washington DC (Fairfax,VA). Is there anyone who had their case there? Would love some reviews.

Thanks!

Just a thought - I was skimming through this board and saw a conversation about why cases where the USC is abroad with the beneficiary get auto-expedites. I wouldn't be sure this is always true. I've been living abroad with my husband for the past four years, we filed our I-130 at the end of June 2012 and still had to wait 5 months to even get our RFE. 190 something days to NOA2. If that's an auto-expedite, it's just pathetic.

USC who lived in Manabí, Ecuador with hubby from 2009 - 2013. Hubby became a naturalized American citizen in August 2016. Currently living together in northern Virginia.

I haven't seen every couple filing from abroad get an auto-expedite. But it seems like every couple getting approval in 60 days or less were filing from abroad.

190 days? That is pathetic. This whole process is pathetic. There I said it.

I am the petitioner.

Agreed. I was very whiney and quick to complain while waiting for my NOA2 but now looking at couples who are at the 200+ day mark or hopelessly stuck at VSC, I feel rather fortunate.

Sorry, no, you must be the petitioner/applicant (the USC, for an I-130). They don't know that you have any recognizable relationship with the USC until the I-130 is approved.

Ditto to what Speedwell said. Once your case goes to NVC, the beneficiary can also call on behalf of case status.

Thank you! :)

How about for creating an account on the USCIS site? Can I make one for our application? Or should it really be in my husband's name?

Just wanna add my sister on here! She sent her I-130 and stuff January 24 and her NOA1 vai Email is Janurary 29! Good luck for her maybe she gets her NOA2 before me as she has a MSC number lol

Really? When did you send yours?

Good luck to your sister, too!

We sent our i-130 to the Chicago Lockbox from France on january 29th. For the moment, no news from USCIS but since we sent the packet by regular mail, they might not have received it yet !

i sent mine the same date and was delivered on 30th too.. i still havent gotten any NOA1. and they have not cashed in my check yet.. ? what do i do?

Yeah, it takes some time. Ours was priority mail from a USPS in Japan 15th of January, which is a notch above the regular mail... But they sent us notice of receipt via email 10 days after. Check was cashed 2 or 3 days after that email notice. NOA 1 hard copy received only today! So, don't fret yet! ;)

Updating my profile timeline to state that we finally got our NOA 1 hard copy! Yahoo! PROGRESS! Gotta love it even if it's just a sheet of flimsy office paper

Question, which one is our NOA1 date: the date we received the email notification, the notice date on the hard copy, the received date on the hard copy, or the priority date on the hard copy? Ugh. I'm such a nooob! :bonk:

Edit...

Found my answer! http://www.visajourney.com/images/noa-date.jpg
