I am getting ready to do Question 18 on form I-129F. We met already, should I mention how we met online first like all our past before we got to meet in person or just the details to my trip to LONDON? And What would be the idle length of the letter we met online in 2007 and have all this history together. I'm afraid i'll make it too long... blink.gif I would appreciate the response so I can get started ASAP. Thank you all! smile.gif

Thank you. I just don't want to write a book. lol I tend to write a lot. I just don't want to give so much unnecessary detail but leave maybe what they consider important out. It's kinda hard knowing what are the key things they are really interested in knowing about and look for. smile.gif

Thank you so much!

Just give them exactly what they are asking for...we actually wrote it like a very short story(less than half a page and we actually met 4 times in 1 year), with dates that correspond with the boarding passes. Very short, so that they don't get bored while reading it.

Only your trip where you met in person. The size of the box indicates the length of response they want.

Yes, keep it short and to the point. You want to include the initial meeting online because it is asking you how you met as well as when. We included that we met online, gave the name of the site, and gave the date. This was how my response began. Then, I just wrote some sentences about our meetings in person including the dates and places. Lastly, I included short details about our engagement. It was a paragraph of a short and sweet narrative that corresponded with the evidence I sent.

Mary Jane and I first met online via yahoo chat back in August 2010. We chatted for several months one to two times a week. From Jan 11 to May 11 we chatted 3 to 4 times a week and it was during this time I decided I was going to visit her for the first time.

This was what I used and my petition got approved......

So I finished my Part B Question 18 and I couldn't avoid writing one full page. I mean we met online in 2007 and we have information since then to write down or at least get a short sweet glimpse of our relationship. So I hope they don't deny me for the fact they should read this page... It can't be that bad. There is no way I can sum up 2007 till 2012 in 5 sentences. Sorry... lil nervous but the truth is the truth and that is what I wrote. :)

I don't think it'll be a problem. We only wrote one line: online, then in Denmark in Jan 2012 and USA April/May 2012 and our I-129F was approved without a problem.

Baron is correct. They only need to know when you LAST met IN PERSON. They do not need an essay. Mine said something to the effect of "Vanessa and I met in person in October 2008 when she visited me in the US and stayed for 80 days"... something like that. It was never a problem.

Sometimes writing too much is bad because it looks like you're over-compensating. Again, you only need to talk about when you met in person.

If you want to write a separate "evolution of relationship" document, some people do that (some are required to as well).
