My family and I are currently living in Denmark. My husband is the immigrant, I am the US citizen. Our initial plan was the IR-1 route, entering the States next June. We received the NOA1 on October 24, 2012.

I have now found out that I will have to return to the States in March 2013 and that creates confusion and sorrows. We know that it takes up to 6 months to get things to the next level, but that will not work with our new timeframe.

Is there any other way that would allow my husband to enter the country with me and the kids in spring?

Thanks for any ideas / advice!

He could enter on the VWP and stay as long as authorized.

He will have to return to finalize the visa process abroad

Good luck

I´m no expert, but I think you should be not too far off from a March entry date. Maybe you would be apart for about 3 months, but that is definitely doable in the grand scheme of things. Im hoping Im not jinxing things, but if you were very fast with your paperwork. I am actually thinking maybe we did it a little too early as our NOA 1 date is October 29th and we would like to move in August or September of 2013. Who knows?!

Velkommen til VJ!

March will roughly be your your NOA2, give or take a month. From there on, if all goes well, you're looking at about 2 - 3 months until the interview (though probably closer to 3).

The bad news is, he cannot immigrate with you until he has had his interview in Stockholm, and receives the visa and passport back in the mail.

The good news is, being a Danish citizen, he should not have too many issues visiting you on the visa waiver program and stay in the US with you until his interview (or up to 90 days, whichever comes first). While he will need to go to Sweden for his interview and won't be able to work yet, he'll be fully able to wait out the remaining months there with you.

Til lykke! (good luck)

October NOA-1 date, you say?

Is a really good chance that he could be interviewed the first week of March,

IF you pay attention to stuff at NVC.

Why? National Benefits Center casefile processing is faster than the other Service Centers.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

 This - although if you read the http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/185-scandinavians/page__pid__5850294__st__930#entry5850294 thread you'll see that with Stockholm taking on the Danes and the Norwegians there have been some mixups at NVC and delayed mailing out of visas.

Perhaps they'll have it fixed by the time we are through, who knows though?

We are hoping if all goes smoothly to be done by the end of April. We've got a wedding on April 28 in the US Virgin Islands that is just dying to be used as our POE. :goofy:

3/2/18  E-filed N-400 under 5 year rule

3/26/18 Biometrics

7/2019-12/2019 (Yes, 16- 21 months) Estimated time to interview MSP office.

Thank you for the thumbs up.

We have been married for more than two years and have two girls at home. That is the main reason why I really hope this all will work quickly.

Moving our entire life with the two kids now will be really stressful and him entering in March with me would help tremendously.

Hope to get the NOA2 in early 2013.

Thanks for your help and I will keep you updated.

I don't think March is realistic for a POE, sorry.

Better to not get your hopes up.

My NOA1 is less than a month after you and am HOPING I can cross by end of june.
